At 38, this mom of three (with a four-year-old and one-year-old twins) found that her tummy never recovered after pregnancy. No matter how hard she worked on her core, the bulge remained. She lived in shapewear, struggled with clothing, and endured the sting of people asking her when she was “due.”
Diastasis recti happens to almost every woman after pregnancy. Sometimes it’s mild, sometimes moderate with a bit of bulge, and sometimes, like in her case, it’s severe. The abdominal wall separates, the core loses its stability, and the tummy constantly distends forward. While it’s more common with twins, it can occur after any pregnancy.
Notice in her photos: lying down, the tummy looks flat… but you can clearly see the edges of the muscles, the wide gap, and the laxity of the skin.
Repairing diastasis is about more than aesthetics. It’s about restoring strength, stability, and comfort. Through abdominoplasty, I repaired her abdominal wall, tightened and corseted her midsection, and tailored the excess skin, restoring a natural, youthful hourglass figure.
I love the nuance and technical challenge of cases like this. But most of all, I love seeing how life changing the results can be.
