Sapna NYC kicked off our June voter education workshops with a workshop in Kensington partnering with . We talked about what’s on the ballot this June, voting rights, and how ranked-choice voting works. Participants had a chance to fill out sample ballots to make sure that their voices will be heard and the polls 🗳️!

Our team was happy to speak to employees at LSEG about ways to get involved in Sapna NYC’s work. Volunteers are a crucial part of expanding our reach from helping pack groceries for the food pantry to doing mock tests with citizenship students to leading yoga classes. Want to get involved? Yesterday over 20 community leaders met with & to uplift the stories and needs of our diverse AAPI communities in NYC. As the city budget gets finalized, we need to ensure that our communities are not forgotten. Together we spoke about the need for continued funding for immigration, food insecurity, mental health, seniors, & anti-hate, especially in light of federal budget cuts and continued city contracting delays. Thank you to & for creating this space & for incredible leadership of our coalition 🙏🏽

Who thinks we need more 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗬𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗲𝗿𝘀 to run for office?

In partnership with , spoke with nearly 75 Bronx residents over three community conversations about money in politics. The workshop titled 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝗲𝘆, 𝗣𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗔𝗰𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 focused on the issues with money in politics and how the program encourages transparency and accountability for the use of public funds.

We also talked about how these matched funds can be leveraged by our communities to bring more diversity of voices & experiences to elected office.

So proud of our ladies who completed both level 1 and level 2 of our computer program! Despite work, children, and other commitments, they finished 70 hours of class with an average score of 97% 🙂

And it’s a wrap! This Ramadan partnered with & .lander to bring 2,400 meals to the community in the .

In this moment when we are being overwhelmed by rhetoric about division and austerity, the opportunity for Sapna NYC to once again partner with Islamic Relief USA and Comptroller Lander for the Ramadan ‘Iftar on the Go’ program was a much needed moment for all of us to come together in solidarity with our communities and a reminder that there is always abundance to be shared by all.
