As I’m eating a yellow kiwi for the first time ever, skin and all, I remembered a post I wrote many years back about fruit and motherhood.

Any mother will know the feeling- fridge stocked with strawberries & mangos, counter overflowing with bananas & oranges.. and yet there is always this urge to “save” the fruit for the kids & not enjoy any for yourself.

For years, I fought against the tendency, willfully forcing a bite of sensory sweetness, remembering to give myself the gift of sweetness too. It wasn’t natural, but I thought it was important.

Tonight, as I eat the kiwi, looking at recently purchased watermelon & pineapple on countertop, I realized I’m re-discovering what fruit I like, not just what the rest of the family wants. To be honest, it feels a little rebellious and pretty wonderful.

Having teens is a funny place to be- you have to learn how to listen to them while still guiding them, not an easy line to walk on. But in their newfound independence is space for us moms to stretch & learn new things about ourselves too.

I’ve asked my girls if they knew what some of my favorite fruits were and they couldn’t tell me… but they will soon enough. And maybe they’ll discover new fruits to enjoy along the way too.

Intentional recovery day today, because oh boy did I need it!

I’ve found one of the best strategies to improve my health over the last 10 years was to notice the ups & downs of stress (physical, mental, hormonal or anything else) on my body and trust what my body was telling me. Sometimes my body needs to gently encouraged, sometimes it needs to be pushed, and other times it needs more recovery than just sleep.

Today was a much needed recovery day & I gave it the works!
A Tunebed & Sauna session at , a trip to .farm for some fresh veggies & strawberries, water & electrolytes (all week) from , & remembering to look around and see the beauty around me on Long Island’s North Shore.

Happy Saturday ! Hope it’s restful and beautiful weekend for you too

Today’s workout: A little bit of upper body with my power block adjustable weights (up to 35 lbs woohoo!) and 5lb weighted ball work for shoulder stability muscles ♥️

I generally like to transition to a hybrid strength/cardio program (I guess you would call it low intensity HIIT lol) in the springtime, and move to mostly outdoor cardio in the early summer. But it’s always really tough for me to mentally switch gears between workout styles.

Giving myself grace (and a couple weeks of transition time) as I’m currently still trying to lift heavy and taking long IG breaks in between.🤣

Happy Monday ♥️

Today’s work out: Continued challenge of my baby Quads, and as always, keeping up with hammies & glute strength.

IG will tell you progress comes from repeating the same “boring” exercises, but if you’re focusing on your form and the mind- muscle connection, I don’t see how it can be boring at all! 🤷🏼‍♀️
