With the start of the new year, you don’t want to get sick! Below, find some tips to help you avoid catching a cold!
1. Wash Your Hands
An obvious tip, make sure you constantly wash your hands. Your phone, keyboard, keys, they all carry germs, and they’re all things you constantly use. If you can’t wash your hands as often as you’d like, then make sure you use hand sanitizer after opening a door or touching a light switch.
2. Keep Your Surroundings Clean
Again, your workplace, kitchen island, and desk are probably not cleaned as often as they should be. Take an antibacterial wipe to their surfaces once in a while to remove any germs that may be contaminating these areas.
3. Sleep, Sleep, Sleep!
We all have a lot on our plates that needs to get done, but please remember that taking care of yourself is always the top priority! Most of us don’t get enough sleep, and we know that—but how many of us actually do something about it? While its near impossible for most of us to get 10 hours of sleep per night, you should be striving for somewhere around 7 at a minimum! Your body needs rest to rejuvenate, stay strong, and fight off and illnesses. When you’re tired, your body doesn’t fight as hard, leaving you prone to sickness. So please, make an effort to ensure that your head hits the pillow for an extra couple of hours in the new year.
4. Work Out!
Staying active is not only a great way to get in shape, but also to keep your body happy and healthy! Going to the gym, doing yoga, or going for a walk are only a handful of the ways that you can be active. Exercise boosts your immune system, so you’re only doing yourself a favor. On a similar note, make sure you hydrate—whether you work out or not! Drinking enough water is also vital to make sure your body doesn’t get run down and dehydrated.
5. Eat Healthy
It’s not always easy to eat as healthy as you want, but make it a point to pay attention to what you eat. Your body needs essential vitamins and minerals to stay in top shape, so that means eating your fruits and veggies. You don’t have to cut out the sweets completely (because moderation is good, right?!) but regulating your food intake will not only be better for you, but it can also make you feel better too.
