Professor Yoshiaki Omura, MD, ScD, is a highly regarded general practitioner and cardiologist featuring an impressive professional journey that spans more than 50 years. His areas of expertise include oncology, electrotherapeutics, acupuncture, and research. He is president and founder of the International College of Acupuncture & Electro-Therapeutics in New York City, New York, president and founder of the International Bi-Digital O-Ring Test Medical Association, and medical research director of the Heart Disease Research Foundation starting 1972. The International College of Acupuncture & Electro-Therapeutics is permanently chartered by the University of the State of New York, State Education Department. The Bi-Digital O-Ring test (O-ring test) developed in 1978 by Dr. Omura as a new diagnostic approach has gained a wide-spread recognition in many countries of the world as a clinically useful test. Dr. Omura also developed a method to identify any infection of any part of the heart from ECG, and he is the first one to report in late 1990s that repeated Acupuncture treatment of Lyme Disease infected joint pain is one of the significant unrecognized causes of atrial flutters and atrial fibrillations by spreading of Lyme disease's Spirochete by rupturing capillaries of Borrelia Burgdorferi infected painful joints. Recently he succeeded in developing a new method of screening cancers from Electrocardiogram. Professor Yoshiaki Omura, MD, ScD, is also Adjunct Professor in the Department of Family and Community Medicine of New York Medical College since 2008 and Editor-in-Chief of Acupuncture & Electro-Therapeutics Research, International Journal of Integrated Medicine since 1974. Professor Omura is a specialist in cardiology, oncology, acupuncture and electrotherapeutics and basic and clinical research in these fields. He published over 260 original research reports and 8 books. Formerly acting as Maitre de Recherche at INSERM (The National Institute of Health & Medical Research) of French Government, Dr. Omura is also former visiting professor of psychophysiology at The University of Paris, visiting professor and research consultant of Electroanesthesia and Neuroelectricity at The University of Rene Descartes of University of Paris, former visiting research professor of Electrical Engineering in the Department of Electrical Engineering at Manhattan College in New York, former adjunct professor of pharmacology at Chicago Medical School, former visiting professor of anesthesiology at The University of Padua in Italy, former Adjunct Professor of Physiology at Showa University Medical School in Tokyo, Japan, former professor of non-orthodox medicine at the Ukrainian Kiev National Medical University, former visiting professor at Ningxia University Medical School in China, and current president of the Japan Bi-Digital O-Ring Test Association. Professor Yoshiaki Omura, MD, ScD, obtained his medical degree in 1958 at Yokohama City University in Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan, and his ScD in Pharmaco-Electrophysiology of Single Cardiac Cells in Vivo and in Vitro in 1965 at Columbia University College of Physicians & Surgeons. He is a Life Fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine (London, England), Fellow President of the International College of Acupuncture and Electro-therapeutics, Life Fellow of the American College of Acupuncture, Life Fellow, Diplomate, and Executive Member of the American Association of Integrative Medicine, Diplomat of the American Academy of Pain Management, and Diplomate of the American Association of Integrative Medicine. Dr. Omura links his success to having done extensive research on the effects of chemotherapy on the heart and brain of cancer patients since he noticed many cancer patients developed memory problems and complaining of heaviness in chest or mild chest pain after chemotherapy. Dr. Omura also holds a bachelor degree of science in applied physics from Waseda University and completed postgraduate training at Tokyo University and Columbia University, where he served his Cardiovascular Fellowship and Residency Training in Oncological Surgery.
