Today, 8/31/22, Ascendant NY acknowledges International Overdose Awareness Day by honoring and remembering those who have lost their lives to the drug overdose epidemic.

Provisional data from CDC’s National Center for Health Statistics indicate that there were an estimated 100,306 drug overdose deaths in the United States during the 12-month period ending in April 2021, an increase of 28.5% from the 78,056 deaths during the same period the year before.

The epidemic is far from over and Ascendant is proud to be on the front lines of fighting it.

Lead by our Executive Director, Charlotte Bareiss, and Surf Expert/Senior Clinician, Jason Andrews,CASAC, our clients have the thrilling opportunity to participate in surf therapy. This unique NYC adventure faciliates bi-lateral stimulation, nature connection, physical exercise, and social bonding, components that have been proven to enhance positive treatment outcomes. Join us as we continue to push outside the traditional walls of therapy to cultivate meaningful and sustained change.
