The Grand Egyptian museum doesn’t have its grand opening until November but I was lucky enough experience its greatness during this trip. Its Japanese design was incredibly well thought out and has the greatest collection of artifacts from this region I’ve ever seen. I can’t wait to see its final form in a few months!
1. Rameses II
The grand architect accredited with conducting the first peace treaty in recorded history with Hattusili III. May be responsible for some of the most hilarious anecdotes in Egypt. 😂
2. Pharaoh Djoser
Created the first step pyramid at Saqqara, later transformed into a six-step pyramid by the first woke architect, Imhotep. Djoser is also credited with creating some of the most advanced medicine and surgery of his time.
3. Pharaoh Akhenaten
The first ancient Egyptian to adopt a monotheistic philosophy. He didn’t feel the need for embellished images of himself and embraced his unique appearance while still marrying the baddest woman in the game—The Great Nefertiti!
4. The stone columns of the Ptolemaic Era
These represent the unification of Upper and Lower Egypt, the strength of the Pharaoh, and the divine order of the universe. Sick craftsmanship! 🏛️
5. The first Female Pharaoh
Ruling during the Eighteenth Dynasty, she opened up trade routes that brought in gold, ivory, and rare animals from places like modern-day Somalia. Even though the haters tried to wipe her from the history books, her influence continues to this day. 👑
6. Gratitude 💫🙌🏽💫
