Fox 5’s news reporter Richard Giacovas explored how changes in weather can impact our mental health and spoke with Dr. Jeph for her expert insight on Seasonal Affective Disorder.

“It’s not abnormal to feel a certain way about the weather. In fact, it’s a disorder that some people suffer from. Seasonal Affective Disorder can lead to depression. It can lead to a lack of motivation.” Dr. Jeph

“It is important to respect children regarding their names and how they are referred to,” said licensed clinical psychologist Dr. Jephtha Tausig to Bored Panda. “Assigning a child a nickname without their consent or approval is not ok and could affect the child’s self-esteem.” See the story:https://www.boredpanda.com/mil-refuses-accept-grandson-name/

Schools are where many children first learn about social interaction, structure, and self-advocacy. For students with autism, these early experiences can set the tone for their confidence and success.

“We want students with Autism to feel as comfortable as possible in their learning environments, and this can include accommodations such as permission to wear noise-reducing headphones and/or sunglasses to help reduce sensory stimuli which might be difficult for them to experience.” Dr Jeph

💛🎄The holiday season can be magical, but for many, it can also bring stress, pressure, and overwhelming feelings. If you’re finding this time of year tough, know that it’s okay to not feel okay. Here are a few gentle reminders:

✨Christmas doesn’t have to be picture-perfect.
✨ You don’t need matching pyjamas to create special memories.
✨ You don’t need the biggest TV or the fanciest decorations to feel the holiday spirit.
✨ The number of presents under the tree doesn’t measure your love or worth as a parent or friend.

The heart of Christmas is about presence, not perfection. It’s about love, kindness, and togetherness—not competition or comparison.

If you’re feeling the pressure, take a deep breath: You’re doing enough.

And if you’re finding it hard, remember you’re not alone. Support is here whenever you need it. This Christmas, let’s focus on what truly matters: each other. 💚

Social media has become a cornerstone of modern communication, particularly for children and adolescents. While it provides opportunities for connection and creativity, frequent use poses challenges to mental health, self-esteem, and real-life social skills. Understanding these effects and the role of parents, educators, and communities is crucial for fostering healthier habits.

How Does Frequent Social Media Use Affect Self-Esteem and Body Image?

"Social media is everywhere, and it is very difficult to escape it altogether. The images that are posted—unless they are truly candid and spontaneous—tend to be highly curated and edited. The words and emojis even more so," Dr. Jeph notes. Despite knowing that many posts are far from reality, children and adolescents often struggle to separate these curated images from real life. About Dr. Jeph Tausig

Clinical Psychologist focused on Family, Parenting, Children, Teens, Young Adults, individuals, and the Elderly. I am a licensed clinical psychologist and I love it. It’s the most rewarding work I could do with my life. I work with children, teens, young adults, and the elderly. I have the privilege of working with diverse ethnic, cultural, and national groups. I’ve counseled people from all walks of life. All of this provides a depth of experience and context that informs all parts of my practice. My greatest reward as a psychologist is making a difference in people’s lives one person, one family at a time.

I received my Doctorate with Distinction in Clinical Psychology from Columbia University. I hold three Masters; a Masters of Philosophy in Clinical Psychology from Columbia University; a Masters in Clinical Psychology from Teachers College, and a Masters in General Psychology from New York University. I did my undergraduate work in Fine Arts at New York University. I am the Supervising Psychologist for Family & Children’s Services of Nantucket and my clinical experience Includes Columbia University’s Center for Psychoanalytic Training & Research, Richmond University Medical Center, Maimonides Medical Center, Gay Men’s Health Crisis, and the Bellevue Hospital Center. I am a Visiting Scholar at Teachers College – Columbia University and a Clinical Instructor at Mt. Sinai Medical Center.

I provide psychotherapeutic treatment, counseling, psychodiagnostic testing, and evaluations for children, adolescents, adults, and the elderly. Please take the time to examine my Curriculum Vitae. It will provide you more detail about my clinical and community work, research, teaching, and presentations.

I look forward to speaking with you. I am your partner helping you leverage your strengths to find the best plan to accomplish your goals.
