This week I joined a chevra kadisha and learned to do tahara for the dead. People who had done it before described it as very moving. It is similar to the Islamic Janāzah death rituals, You do not leave the body unattended, the deceased is washed and dressed in white. As I get older, the more these spiritual rituals mean to me.

My friend Sheila Dallas-Katzman who innovates ways for poor rural women to organize was nominated for a prestigious award. I posted about her idea to train women to use cell phones which are fairly ubiquitous to record photos of, say, dried-up streams where global warming has made their life harder. She is expanding it to merge with AI and women are interested.

Last night was the world premiere of my sister Keva's composition Evenescence, for (largely) piano- inside and out, on global warming. She played it with the Cascade Symphony orchestra to standing ovations. As well as a Barber concerto and other music. I believe she has used hammering inside the piano in other compositions- her Russian River or Antarctica pieces? It certainly gives a sense of future chaos. Brava sorella!
