Join us for an upcoming Renal Roundtable Lecture focused on IgA Nephropathy: Challenging Cases and Treatment Strategies.

This educational dinner discussion will provide an in-depth look at the latest developments in IgA Nephropathy (IgAN), including updates from the newest KDIGO guidelines, current treatment strategies for managing IgAN in 2026, and how clinicians can navigate challenging patient cases. Attendees will also explore the evolving treatment landscape, including both the immune-mediated and chronic kidney disease (CKD) components of IgAN, and discuss how emerging therapies are helping shape patient care and outcomes.

We are honored to welcome Dr. Kenar Jhaveri, MD, Professor of Medicine at the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell and Associate Chief of the Division of Kidney Diseases and Hypertension at Northwell Health. We're throwing it back this Thursday to highlight our recent Drive for Dialysis program in partnership with Weil, Goshal, & Manges LLP! During this volunteer initiative, we raised awareness about chronic kidney disease and what you can do to prevent it.

Together, we assembled care packages and personally written care messages for those on dialysis. We hope that these bags help make treatment days a little more comfortable and uplift patients in need. 🧡

What an incredible past week it has been reflecting on and celebrating the success of the 2026 Long Island Kidney Walk 🧡👏

Thanks to this amazing community, we welcomed over 800 walkers and raised more than $135,000 in support of those affected by kidney disease. Seeing so many people come together with a shared purpose was truly inspiring, and we are beyond grateful for every person who showed up, donated, fundraised, volunteered, and supported this event in any way.

A very special thank you goes out to our sponsors, vendors, volunteers, and staff whose hard work, dedication, and support helped make the day run so smoothly and successfully. Your commitment behind the scenes made such a meaningful impact and did not go unnoticed.

To every team captain, walker, donor, family member, and supporter, thank you for making this year’s walk so memorable. The energy, compassion, and sense of community throughout the day was something truly special, and we are so thankful to have shared it with all of you.

We are still smiling from such an unforgettable day. Thank you, Long Island, for showing up in such a big way🧡

"A few hours after my sister’s 22nd birthday dinner, I decided to take a nap due to a massive migraine I was having. Or what I naively thought was only a migraine. When I awoke I noticed that my vision had significantly decreased. I couldn’t see clearly. For most people, a change in their vision would lead to panic. Not me. I just simply booked an eye doctors appointment and assumed I would just need glasses, like other people in my family. I didn’t think there was anything seriously wrong with me. I thought my time with my 20/20 vision was up.

Oh, how wrong I was.

My ophthalmologist took one look in my eyes, looked at me and said “either you go to the hospital now or I will call you an ambulance”. I’ve never been so scared in my life. She printed the scan of my eyes and said “show the front desk this and tell them you need to skip the queue please tell them you cannot wait you need to be seen immediately”. I entered the hospital, skipped the queue just like she predicted, and my life has never been the same since. I was diagnosed with end-stage renal disease due to IgA nephropathy. I was 25 and I required a kidney transplant. My dad, without hesitation, signed up to get tested. After a few weeks, we got the call. It was a perfect match. The man who gave me life would now also be the man who saved my life. The man I looked up to whole life, who came to this country at just 17 would now be the one who gave me a second chance at life.

In August 2026, I will be 2 years post-transplant! I walk this year in the 2026 Kidney Walk because I found myself again. I made it my mission to build my strength back up after my transplant to be able to participate more in life. For months during my dialysis treatments, all I could was hang on for the ride and let my body do the fighting for me. It felt like I wasn’t in control anymore, I was at the mercy of my doctors and their recommendations. I feel like me again, and I want to help other also get back to their me."

Thank you so much to Helen for sharing your story. Kidney warriors like you inspire our community everyday. 🧡
