Valued Patients of Eastside Optometric, PC,

My name is Dr. Alan Kurfirst, and I have been working closely with Dr. Goldberg over the last five years leading up to his retirement in late June 2022.

I have been in practice since 1981, operating one of the oldest and last privately owned optical locations in Midtown Manhattan. I specialize in hard to fit contact lenses and am proud to offer personalized service for all my patients. My mission is to provide you with the high-quality care and personalized attention you have come to expect from Dr. Goldberg.

We carry a wide selection of designer frames and sunglasses in our optical shop to fulfill the individual needs of each of our patients. At Madison Avenue Eye Care, our mission is to provide our patients with optimal care to ensure optimal optical health.

All photos taken during previous exams are available for comparison during future appointments at Madison Avenue Eye Care. In addition, please be assured that your contact lens fitting information is still on file. If you should decide to transfer care to another office, my staff will provide you with copies of your medical records, including contact lens fittings and medical imaging.

We look forward to seeing you.

Dear Valued Patient, It is with mixed feelings that I am announcing I am retiring from optometric practice, effective June 23, 2022. This decision has not been made lightly, as I have enjoyed caring for your vision needs at Eastside Optometric, since our days at Lenscrafters, the Chrysler Build...

We hope this finds you and your loved ones safe and healthy. These last 3 months have been a time filled with uncertainty, anxiety, and life-style changes for everyone. As we navigate this ‘new normal’, we want you to know that we are so thankful to be a part of this community and are ready to serve you again.

As NYC enters Phase 1 of the reopening, we are planning to begin seeing patients on Tuesday, June 16th.

What we are doing for your protection:

- Ensure 6 ft. distance between personnel, unless safety or core function of the work activity requires a shorter distance. All personnel and patients are required to wear acceptable face coverings.

- Tightly confined spaces will be occupied by no more than one patient and one tech at a time and all occupants must wear face coverings. If occupied by more than one person, will keep occupancy under 50% of maximum capacity.

- Employers will provide employees with an acceptable face covering at no-cost to the employee and have an adequate supply of coverings in case of replacement.

- Face coverings will be cleaned or replaced after use or when damaged or soiled, may not be shared, and will be properly stored or discarded.

- Limit the sharing of objects and discourage touching of shared surfaces; or, when in contact with shared objects or frequently touched areas, wear gloves; or, sanitize or wash hands before and after contact.

- Adhere to hygiene and sanitation requirements from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and Department of Health (DOH)

- Provide and maintain hand hygiene stations for personnel and patients, including handwashing with soap, water, and paper towels, or an alcohol-based hand sanitizer containing 60% or more alcohol for areas where handwashing is not feasible.

- Conduct regular cleaning and disinfection of examination rooms after each patient and frequent cleaning and disinfection of shared objects and surfaces, as well as high transit areas, such as common areas.

- If an employee tests positive for COVID-19, we will immediately notify state and local health departments and cooperate with contact tracing efforts, including notification of potential contacts, such as employees or visitors who had close contact with the individual, while maintaining confidentiality required by state and federal law and regulations.

When you arrive at the office:

- Please arrive with a mask on.

- We want to keep any waiting in the waiting area to a minimum, but if you would feel more comfortable waiting in the hallway, please call Jesse and tell her you have arrived.

- If you are over the age of 18, please come to your appointment by yourself. Please do not bring additional children or family members to appointments at this time. We love to see all of them, but we are trying to reduce the total number of people in our office at one time.

- We have installed a clear barrier for better protection during our patient and administrative team interactions.

- Before your visit we will check your temperature with a no-touch thermometer.

COVID-19 Symptom Checker

Before your appointment, please read through this list of questions:

1. Do you have a fever, or have you felt hot or feverish recently (14-21 days)?
2. Are you having shortness of breath or other difficulty breathing?
3. Do you have a cough?
4. Are you experiencing any other flu-like symptoms, such as gastrointestinal upset, headache, or fatigue?
5. Have you experienced a recent loss of taste or smell?
6. Have you had contact with any confirmed COVID-19 positive patients? Patients who are well, but who have a sick family member at home, should postpone treatment.

If you can answer yes to any of these questions, please postpone your appointment.

We want to reassure you that our practice remains a safe place for you and your family and we look forward to seeing you again and providing the best care possible.

Warmest Regards,
The staff at Eastside Optometric, PC

03/19/2020

In light of COVID-19 updates and new guidance from the CDC and New York State Department of Health, we are temporarily closing our office effective immediately through Friday 4/3/2020. At that time, we will assess the situation and provide an update for later dates.

We do not take these decisions lightly, but it is in the best interest of the health and safety of our patients and staff.

Our staff is working remotely, answering phone calls, rescheduling patients and we will be there for you to help you with your vision care needs at this difficult time. If you call and no one answers, please leave a message and your call will be returned as soon as possible.

Stay safe,

The staff at Eastside Optometric, PC

To Our Valued Patients:

Eastside Optometric is committed to the health and safety of our patients and our staff. But now, in light of the recent pandemic situation globally and in our city, we wanted to reach out and reaffirm our commitment to keeping our patients and our staff safe.

As you have undoubtedly seen during your visits to our office, we take cleanliness, disinfection and sterilization very seriously. We disinfect our equipment before and after each patient encounter. We have always performed this disinfection protocol at this office and at our previous locations. While cleanliness has always been a top priority at our practice, high touch areas, such as counter tops, door and chair handles, etc., are being disinfected and cleaned hourly in an effort to minimize any potential transmission of disease.

We are actively monitoring both local and national information about the coronavirus, COVID-19, and are continuing to do everything we can to keep our practice a clean and safe environment for all. We will continue to follow all the guidelines set forth by the CDC and WHO.

We want to reassure you that our practice remains a safe place for you and your family.

Warmest Regards,
The staff at Eastside Optometric
