Ask a Sista will be dropping knowledge on self-sustainability, you don't want to miss this live.

Are you ready to grow your own food and medicine for self-reliance and community resilience? On the first Friday of every month, experienced Black womxn* farmers answer your call-in questions about gardening, livestock, agroforestry, plant medicine, business operations, and food preservation. At the end of the show we have a GIVEAWAY to the person who wins our quiz. To free ourselves we must feed ourselves!

Friday 10/2 we are joined by Lytisha Wyatt, farmer and freelance ag writer, and Alison Espinosa, farmer and Certified Veterinary Technician with Rootworker’s Croft. They will speak about the human-animal bond, livestock health, tips for farming poultry, and navigating barriers to entry in the field.

Next week is Yemayas and Oshuns Feast day beginning September 7th and 8th receptively. We in Lucumi celebrate these most auspicious days with fruit, flowers, foods specially prepared for the Orisas plenty of sweets, cakes, candies, and pastries. I have included this article to help those who may have an inclination to get their Oshun magic on. As the year is drawing closer to Fall it will be time to Harvest, this is a good time to place our petitions to these most magnificent Orisas for blessings.
"Oshun is associated with all of the best things in life: love, sweetness, and abundant, flowing blessings. Without her, humanity would not exist, for it's her sweet water that brings life to the earth. Make her offerings, show her respect, and keep your promises to her, and she will bless you with more happiness than you can imagine."

Oshun is the beloved Yoruban goddess of the sweet waters, and she exudes love, sweetness, beauty, and sensuality. Here's how to make her offerings and show her respect.
