When I was at , I had the opportunity to learn about hundreds of dietary theories, and one that has always stuck with me is Ayurveda.

As a yoga instructor, the practices of Ayurveda and yoga often overlap, and there is so much to be learned from this ancient practice.

Creating a consistent exercise routine seems to be one of the most daunting hurdles when it comes to living a healthy lifestyle.

We think of ourselves exercising and we imagine that we need to run 3 miles a day, or we picture being in a gym surrounded by body builders. It can feel completely intimidating.

But it doesn't have to be. The most important step in creating an exercise routine is to get moving, find something you enjoy, and keep it consistent.

Here are three ways you can add a bit more movement in every day if you're looking to start an exercise routine.

Have you seen those people on social media who only create a jar of waste in a year?

Yeah….I am NOT one of those people.
But a lower waste life has been something I’ve been working towards for a long time.

It’s part of the reason we compost, have chickens, and reuse whatever we can at .

But not everyone has the space (or energy) to do what we do, but they still may want to lower their consumption and waste, but that’s not always easy, so here are a few easy steps you can work towards to lead a greener life.

1. Reduce your consumption. Ask yourself if you really need whatever it is you’re about to purchase, or if you have something at home that might do the job.
2. Reduce, reuse, and recycle. Yes, we hear this all the time, but we seem to focus on the recycling part. Try focusing on reducing and reusing.
3. Build up those green living habits. How often have you gotten to the store only to realize you forgot your bags at home? Yeah, me too. But keeping my bags next to my car keys or that reusable water next to my purse helps me remember.

There are tons of things we can do to live a lower waste life, but if it feels difficult, starting small can help you make sustainable changes.

Nothing gives me more energy or fuels me to have a great day like starting off with a green juice. I always feel like I'm bound to have a healthy and good day when I drink down all the delicious vitamins.

But juicing can be SUPER EXPENSIVE, and I don't know about you, but I can't justify spending $10 on juice ingredients.

I love that and the Solstice fall on the same day. Two things that speak deeply to my soul.

So in honor of both days, here are some of my favorite photos of me throwing up some yoga poses in nature. Almost all of these were taken long before I chose to deepen my practice and get my 200HR RYT, which was one of the best things I ever did.

I think tonight I'll be celebrating by taking a few minutes to practice yoga as the sun sets :)

The other day I woke up on the wrong side of the bed.

I couldn’t shake the feelings of stress and anxiety when I got up and could just tell it wasn’t going to be my best day.

So I went through my morning routine. I took a walk, did some gentle yoga, and meditated.

While I’m not going to pretend it was an instant mood lifter and everything was just wonderful after that, it definitely did help.

Creating daily habits (and tracking them) has been a total game changer for me and my mental health. It's so easy to get sucked into a negative spiral where I can go for days on end without feeling like I'm accomplishing anything (making my depression and anxiety worse than before).

One of the best things you can do to ensure success in your health journey is to start food prepping.

However, a lot of people get turned off by the idea of food prepping because the idea of eating the same thing day after day is less than appealing.

Trust me, I completely agree. I want what I want when I want it, nothing else will satisfy.

So I've become a big believer in ingredient prepping. Making a few things each weekend that can be utilized in several different meals throughout the week to ensure that I have healthy ingredients on hand and don't get bored too easily.

Here are some things that have been on food prep rotation lately.
