What an unforgettable time at the AO Spine Global Spine Congress in Rio! 🇧🇷

I’m incredibly honored to have received the Luiz Vialle Spinal Deformity Knowledge Forum Award, an especially meaningful recognition because it comes from the giants in this field who inspire me every day.

Even more proud of our amazing Columbia Orthopedics and Och Spine NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital team who brought home the Best E-Poster Award and delivered over 30 podium and e-poster presentations!

This kind of success doesn’t happen alone, it’s the product of collaboration, mentorship, late nights, early mornings, and a shared commitment to advancing spine care. Grateful to be part of a team that keeps raising the bar.

🌍 Honored to have served as faculty at the 5th Qatar International Spine Conference this past weekend (April 18–19) in Doha, Qatar, hosted by the Qatar Spine Society and Hamad Medical Corporation.

I had the opportunity to present on several key topics shaping the future of spine care, including:
• Adult and cervical spinal deformity
• Preoperative optimization for complex spine surgery
• Robotics, artificial intelligence, and custom implants in spine surgery

Proud to represent the Och Spine Program at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital and Columbia Orthopedics, a world leader in cutting-edge, patient-centered spinal care. I was alongside my colleague Dr. Daniel Riew, as we joined global thought leaders to share, learn, and advance spine care together.

International conferences like this not only facilitate critical exchange of ideas but also reaffirm the global impact of academic collaboration.

Grateful to the organizers for their hospitality and to all the faculty and attendees for an inspiring 2 days of learning and connection.

✨ Honored to Share and Learn at the Saudi Spine Society! ✨

I had the privilege of being invited by the Saudi Spine Society to deliver a keynote talk on the evolution of sagittal alignment of the spine. It was an incredible opportunity to dive deep into a topic that continues to shape the future of spine care.

In addition, I had the pleasure of presenting on optimizing patients prior to scoliosis and spinal deformity surgery, sharing strategies to improve outcomes and enhance patient care.

The highlight of the event, however, was reconnecting with old friends and meeting new colleagues who are as passionate about advancing spine surgery as I am. I was truly impressed by the complexity of cases being tackled in Saudi Arabia and the exceptional quality of care being provided.

Grateful for the opportunity to exchange ideas and be inspired by the innovative work being done globally.

Looks like my patient list wasn’t done for the day. After a day of emergency spine surgery, I came home to another critical case. My daughter’s favorite bunny needed a little... surgical attention of its own.

Patient bunny was stable after a successful surgery! The job of a surgeon dad never ends.

Whether it’s spines or stuffed animals, we always aim to heal hearts. 💕

It has been an honor to participate in the inaugural SRS LEAD program. This initiative by SRS to mentor future leaders has provided invaluable learning experiences. Over the past year, I have gained insights into effective leadership. A key lesson I've learned is that leadership is about serving the team and nurturing each team member, not just being a boss.

I encourage other SRS members to participate in this great program.
