This past weekend, NYSDA President Dr. Maurice Edwards and NYSDA President-Elect Dr. Amarilis Jacobo represented the New York State Dental Association at the NYS Democratic Senate Campaign Committee fundraiser during the Rangers game at Madison Square Garden! 🏒

Also in attendance were Assemblywoman Grace Lee, candidate for NYC Senate, and New York State Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie.

It was an excellent opportunity for NYSDA leadership to engage with state policymakers while enjoying a great game of hockey.

On Friday, February 6, 2026, we hosted our annual Give Kids A Smile (GKAS) NYCDS event in East Harlem. Each year feels even more special, and we are so proud to have been keeping smiles happy and healthy since 2014. 💙

This meaningful event focuses on raising awareness about the importance of oral health, teaching good hygiene habits, and connecting children with the dental care they need.

We are thrilled to share that 186 amazing volunteers came together to provide clinical exams, fluoride treatments, and oral health education to 1,221 elementary school students, which is an 18.9% increase from 2025. Many more children received oral health education in their classrooms and took home goodie bags filled with toothpaste, toothbrushes, and helpful oral hygiene tips. 🦷🪥

None of this would be possible without our dedicated volunteers, dentists, and generous sponsors such as: , , Epstein Practice Brokerage, , , , Premier HealthCare, , , , and

A huge thank-you to our 2026 major sponsor Your generous support truly makes a difference and helps us continue this meaningful work.

Together, we accomplished something truly special for our community and spread the message of good oral health. ✨

This is your friendly reminder that GKAS NYCDS is one day away, and we couldn’t be more excited! With more than 80 volunteers, the Orientation was a huge success, and everyone is geared up to make a difference on 2/6/26. 🦷🪥

A big thank you to everyone who attended the Orientation to learn about the key roles, how to apply fluoride, and what to expect on the big day. We can’t wait to see you all this Friday! 💙

Special thanks to our major GKAS NYCDS sponsor, for providing goodie bags filled with toothpaste and toothbrushes for attendees!

In the December issue of Dentists’ Quarterly, Ethics Committee Chair Steven H. Cho explores how even well-meant gifts, like a cash card from a specialist to a referring dentist, can raise ethical concerns under the ADA and NYSDA Codes.

Dr. Cho’s article is a clear reminder that ethical awareness is not only about compliance but also about maintaining mutual respect and upholding the trust that defines quality patient care.
