We should not forget that Monday, November 11 is Veterans Day. Coinciding with the end of World War I at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, Veterans Day is a day to celebrate the service of all members of the military who bravely stepped up when called upon to defend our country.

The AFSCME administratorship team would like to take this opportunity to recognize and say thank you to all the Veterans and their families who have served and continue to serve our country.

On behalf of the Constitution Committee and Elections Committee, congratulations 1549 members! We voted to APPROVE all amendments to our constitution with 96.3% voting YES!

Between June 25th and June 28th, we held seven in person meetings across the city and one virtual meeting, where we conducted the 2nd reading of the amendments and then voted.

Thank you to everyone who attended meetings and voted this week! This is a major accomplishment for our local and is a HUGE benchmark in our adminstratorship plan!

MEETING UPDATE: Due to a scheduling conflict with Elmhurst Hospital, our upcoming Queens borough meeting is moved from April 18th to Thursday, May 2nd at 6 p.m.

We recognize this may be an inconvenience to those of you looking forward to attending, but the hospital moved us from our booked time slot to make room for a congressional representative’s event.

We encourage you to join us on May 2nd as we will be discussing many important updates at our union, including a report from the election committee.
