Let's talk about representation and its power in our lives as women of color. 🎨📚🎬

Research shows that how we're portrayed in media significantly impacts our self-esteem and mental health. Stereotypical, one-dimensional depictions can lead to lower self-esteem and higher rates of depression and anxiety.

But here's the good news: authentic narratives that capture the nuances of our experiences, joys, and struggles have the power to uplift and empower us. They shape how we see ourselves and influence how others perceive us.

As women of color, we have the power to change the narrative. We can:

1. Support artists, authors, and creators who reflect our complex identities
2. Share our own stories authentically
3. Celebrate the diversity within our communities

Remember, your story matters. Your experiences, your struggles, your triumphs—they all contribute to the rich tapestry of our collective narrative.

"I own my magic. I am resilient and powerful." Repeat these words to yourself, and believe them. Because they're true.

Let's keep embracing our multidimensional strength, celebrating our fortitude while giving ourselves grace to be vulnerable and rely on our support networks.

What books, movies, or artworks have you encountered that authentically represent your experiences as a woman of color? Share your recommendations in the comments! Let's create a resource list for our community. 📚🎭🖼️

As women of color, our identities are a vibrant tapestry, woven with the threads of our gender, culture, and racial experiences. Today, let's celebrate the beautiful complexity of who we are! 🌈👑

It's time to expand our understanding of strength. While we honor the resilience passed down through generations, we're also redefining what it means to be strong in our modern context.

Strength isn't just about enduring hardship- it's about:

• Practicing radical self-care
• Embracing vulnerability
• Showing ourselves unconditional love and acceptance
• Building and leaning on our communities

Remember, your worth isn't determined by your achievements or your ability to soldier on without help. You were born worthy, and nothing can change that fundamental truth.

As we navigate our personal growth journeys, let's listen to the subtle nudges of our spirits. Sometimes, the bravest thing we can do is ask for help, acknowledge our limitations, and allow ourselves to be supported.

By redefining strength through self-compassion, we empower ourselves to embrace all aspects of our humanity—both our shadows and our light. "I send love and healing to every part of me."

How are you embracing your multidimensional strength today? Share one way you're practicing self-care or self-compassion in the comments! 💖✨

Embracing our multidimensional strength as women of color means honoring our resilience while redefining what strength truly means. 💪🏽✨

As Audre Lorde wisely said, "Caring for myself is not self-indulgence, it is self-preservation and that is an act of political warfare." This reminds us that true strength includes self-care, vulnerability, and the courage to rest and seek joy.

Our worth isn't tied to enduring suffering silently or sacrificing ourselves for others. It's inherent and unconditional. Remember: "I am worthy of love and respect. I was born worthy. Whether I succeed or fail, I'll always be worthy."

Embracing vulnerability and asking for help aren't weaknesses—they're profound sources of strength. When we dare to acknowledge our limitations and accept support, we open ourselves to unexpected blessings and growth.

Let's redefine strength through self-compassion, embracing all aspects of our humanity. "I love and approve of myself. Loving myself heals my life."

We're not alone in this journey. We're part of a global tribe of Strong Women of Color, uplifting each other through shared stories and collective power.

What does strength mean to you? How do you practice self-care and self-compassion in your daily life? Share your thoughts and experiences in the comments below! 👇🏽❤️

Hello Lovables 👋🏾
Thanks to everyone who expressed condolences to my family for loss of my little sister to gun violence. Appreciate all the love, care and concern. It's really tough. Giving myself lots of space to just be, grieve, and feel all the things.

Life doesn't stop life-ing. Hope you all are taking good care of yourselves and those you love. We're only in our Earth suits for a limited time. May we make the best of it, let small stuff go, and bask in all that is good and necessary for growth and harmony.

Tough times don't last always. Neither do good times. May we be present to the meaning both bring.

What I know that I know...Joy is my strength. My joy is evoked by my family, friends, chosen communities, and meaning derived from my life mission and purpose.

Post: At a great spa today for some relaxation and rejuvenation. Took a few pics because I haven't hit you with in a while.

Yours in resilience and posttraumatic growth,
Shenell

Hey Lovable! Have you ever felt like you're constantly giving but losing yourself in the process? It's too common for Black & Brown women! Over-giving and overextending ourselves partly stems from lack of clarity around what really matters to us. Sure, you want to be a good person, but let’s break that down more so that you aren’t so depleted. The key to navigating this isn't just about drawing lines; it's about illuminating our values.

We’ve gotta dive deep into our values. This isn't just introspection – it's about uncovering the guiding principles that define us. Our values act as a compass, guiding us in how we interact with others and what we are willing to accept or refuse. Without this clarity, setting boundaries becomes a challenging task.

I've been through the journey of feeling depleted by over-giving. It was only when I took a step back to identify and clarify my core values that I could assertively set boundaries. This not only protected my energy but also improved the quality of my relationships.

In our upcoming workshop, we'll focus on uncovering and clarifying your values. This clarity is a powerful tool – it brings your true priorities into focus, simplifies decision-making, and enhances your relationships. It's about finding your authentic self and letting that guide your interactions with the world. By clarifying your values, you create a foundation upon which to build healthy boundaries. This process enables you to understand where to draw the line, how to communicate your needs effectively, and how to make decisions that align with your true self.

Ready to embark on this journey of self-discovery and transformation? Join me in our workshop dedicated to clarifying your values. Sign up now or reach out directly to learn more. Together, let's unlock the path to a more fulfilling and balanced life.

Are you the go-to problem solver, always there to help others reach their goals? If you're feeling exhausted and burnt out, it's time to pause and check in with yourself. You might be stuck in a cycle of over-giving, leading you to feel depleted and lost.

I've been in your shoes. Following the script, excelling at life's demands, yet finding myself utterly drained when it came time to focus on my own goals. My body had to force me to slow down and recalibrate.

The key to reclaiming your energy and vitality lies in shifting your focus. Instead of being overly committed to others' lives, it's time to align with your values. Get clear about who you are and how you want to show up in the world. This shift from goal-oriented to value-driven living can be transformative.

Ready to disrupt the cycle of over-giving and embrace a life of balance and fulfilment? Join me in this journey of self-discovery and empowerment. Sign up for my workshop at https://drshenell.com/workshop or reach out directly to start reclaiming your energy for your own dreams and values.

As a Black or Brown woman, do you ever feel like society's expectations are just too much? That your energy is constantly drained catering to others’ needs? I’ve been there – pushing myself to achieve until I had nothing left. That’s when I realized the power of aligning with my values, not just chasing goals.

I’m excited to invite you to my workshop, "Unleash Your Authentic Potential: An Anti-Goal Setting Workshop for Values-Based Vision." It’s a space where we'll dive deep into the importance of values in guiding our lives. By understanding and embracing our true values, we become less vulnerable to life's ups and downs and more focused on what truly matters.

Pardon me, while I dust myself off. Not many know this, I experienced so much devastation and heartache in 2023. Plus, severe postpartum depression & anxiety. I thought of death way too much.

I spent half the year in paradise. TBH, I think it would've been worse if I hadn't been in Hawaii. That was a saving grace for sure. I was continuously in therapy, and it was still one of the hardest times/years of my life.

I thank God & Goddess that I'm still here and on the other side of it. My business stayed afloat. My kids are happy and healthy. I'm free to love and be loved properly 💖

Long story short, I'm fu***ng 2024 up! Because I lived!!

I have tons of tools and still struggled. I get it. It's made me even more passionate. Trust and believe I am empowered because I've been living and learning too. I'm ready to share on new levels.

Life is life-ing for all of us. We need each other. Join me as I share what I've learned while living in the beautiful valley and climbing my personal mountain of life. Let's talk about how we're navigating and surviving. Let's alchemize our pain into thriving.
