Science is a necessary tool in understanding mental illness and validating its treatment. While the human experience and suffering is extremely complex, we must never let that be a reason to jettison our best hope for the advancement of our field. We are proud to offer scientifically validated treatments and to keep up with how these treatments evolve and improve. Anyone who struggles with mental health issues deserves no less.

For someone with OCD, even therapy could function as a compulsion. If your treatment feels like a 50 minute respite from anxiety, and you go home without tools to successfully navigate your intrusive thoughts, you may not be getting proper care. If your therapist spends a great deal of time focusing on the content of your intrusive thoughts and their origin, and does not help you learn to channel your attention away from compulsive rumination, you may be getting the wrong care. If, week after week, your therapist repeatedly provides reassurance that your intrusive thoughts are not based in reality, it may feel good to get a brief moment of certainty, but that won’t help you with your OCD. Real OCD treatment provides you with the tools to handle intrusive thoughts and the uncertainty that arises without engaging in mental or behavioral compulsions. This work could be unpleasant, but prepares you for living your best life no matter what thoughts, feelings, images, urges come up for you.

Welcome to My OCD Care

The purpose of this page is to provide information about OCD and my approach to treatment. In the United States, about 1 in 40 adults and 1 in 100 children have OCD. I have dedicated my career to helping these individuals.

While effective, evidence-based treatments are available to individuals with OCD, there significant barriers to competent OCD care. There are not enough providers (particularly in rural areas) with adequate training in the diagnosis and treatment of OCD. For those who are lucky enough to live near a competent OCD provider, the treatment is beyond what many people can afford.

Within my practice located in lower Manhattan, I hope to address both barriers to quality OCD care. I provide intensive and standard treatment regimens which combine individual and group exposure therapy. Group exposure therapy is supported by research to be as effective as individual therapy. It is more cost effective and in my experience, helps motivate the individual members to push themselves farther in confronting their fears. Groups also help address the shame and stigma which often comes with having a mental health issue. You are not alone. We feel pain and move forward together.

If you or someone you know needs help with OCD or anxiety, feel free to reach out at 646-580-4572 or send me a confidential message here.
