While your response during an anxiety attack matters, what you do between attacks can have an even bigger impact on your partner’s well-being and your relationship. This is when trust is built, coping skills are strengthened, and anxiety can gradually lose its grip 💁‍♀️

1️⃣ Check in when things are calm. Let them know you're there to listen, not fix. And that you want to support them in ways that feel right to them.

2️⃣ If they know what tends to set off their anxiety, learn about it together. If not, gently exploring it (when they’re ready) can help them feel more in control.

3️⃣ Try coping tools such as breathing exercises, grounding techniques or visualization of a calming scene with them when they’re feeling okay, so they feel easier to use when anxiety hits.

4️⃣ Therapy can help, but it has to feel like their choice. Let them know you’re on their team, without applying pressure.

Emotional safety is the foundation of a healthy, lasting relationship 🤝

It’s what allows partners to be open, honest, and vulnerable with each other. When emotional safety is present, trust grows naturally, and both people feel supported and respected. Creating this kind of connection takes intention and care, but it paves the way for deeper understanding and a more meaningful bond.

Working with a therapist can be a helpful step in building emotional safety. Couples therapy isn’t just about resolving issues, sometimes it’s about learning how to communicate, manage conflict with care, and grow stronger together 💙

We’re here to support couples, whether through virtual sessions or at our locations in New York, Tarrytown, and Texas 💖 For more help and guidance, check the link in our bio or call us at (646) 798-2722. Let’s find your calm together 🌈 We proudly accept United Health Care, Aetna, and Lyra benefits

Here’s something you might not know—deep breathing is a powerful tool for easing stress. It activates your body’s relaxation response, helping calm the brain and ease physical tension 🧠

📌 When you’re feeling overwhelmed, try this grounding exercise:

• Pause and place both feet flat on the floor.
• Focus on the sensation of your feet touching the ground.
• Shift your attention to your breath.
• Slowly follow your breath in and out 10 times.
• Notice any changes in how you feel.
• Practice this a few times a day for lasting impact.
