5 Reasons Friend Circles Shrink With Age.....And why that’s OK

In the Indian – perhaps, South Asian – community, there is a lot of pride attached to how many people you know/are friends with. 50 people dinner parties are considered ordinary affairs, and 1,000-people weddings are not the exception.

Sometimes friendships dissolve and the reasons remain a mystery. Sometimes, people drift apart. You may not have much in common with the “circumstantial” friends you met because of school, college, job, a networking group, or a language class and hung out with because of proximity.

We have all subconsciously or consciously let friendships die. Sometimes, that’s OK because certain friendships serve their purpose, and they have an expiration date. Read all about how and why friendships fade away in the latest SEEMA Weekly.

Today is 💜❤️💜 It’s the global day of giving❤️ Because you’ve been so incredible…I want to give YOU a gift: TWO freebies in the form of essays to empower your digestive health, emotional well-being, and mental wellness! Read it. Savor it. Save it. Share it. Your choice💜

1️⃣This past week and holiday weekend was heart-warming❤️ We spent time and shared meals with my husband’s family, multiple sets of my cousins, family friends from when I was a kid, childhood friends, and friends we made as adults😌 But come 4am on Monday morning, I stashed the memories and got back to my work with a grateful heart. For me the switch is easy because I practice detachment (Thanks to yoga and Ayurveda)…the secret to healthy relationships🙏🏼 Detachment means having control over our emotions, actions, and desires and being able to manage them. Your attachment will hold you back, pull you down, and not let you soar. Letting go can give you a better hold on your life and in your relationships.

2️⃣ The holiday season can translate into digestive issues for a lot of people🤷🏻‍♀️ The heavy and erratic meals and odd eating hours can throw our out the window. In my latest essay for Spirituality & Health Magazine … I share a list of Ayurvedic spices great for your digestive fire this holiday season. Don’t feel overwhelmed about cooking with spices or Ayurvedic principles. If you look at some of your favorite holiday recipes, you probably recognize they already include many of these spices. Butternut squash soup, for example, includes ginger and nutmeg. Rosemary is a classic herb for potatoes, and if you eat fish, fennel is a great condiment. Curries include fennel or cumin or mustard seeds. Get creative and open to spices and become a home apothecary during the holidays and other times.”

Get creative and open to spices and become a home apothecary during the holidays and other times. Post-holiday meals like khichadi can include asafetida, turmeric, cumin seeds, and mustard seeds.
