I find most articles on how to set boundaries with family to be quite cookie-cutter and not all together helpful. This one provides some pretty versatile options on how to respond to dreaded questions with responses that strike the perfect balance of light wit along with standing your ground. I particularly like the suggested response to, “why are you still single?” as, “I’ll let you know when I figure it out.” Happy Thanksgiving ❤️

Many of us have that one relative or that one question we are bracing for when we gather for the holiday season. Instead of letting it get under your skin or lashing out once it gets to you, think ahead and prepare your responses with these tips, experts say.

I am thrilled to announce that I have completed a year-long training in IFS. IFS is a "powerfully trasformative, evidence-based model of psychotherapy" that helps to engage and reduce parts of ourselves that were originally created to help us but that no longer work as effectively. With IFS, I am able to eventually help a client really get to the root of maladaptive behaviors and to heal younger parts of themselves, freeing them of burdens they have been carrying and updating parts that might be creating more harm than good. I have been integrating this model into my work with clients in the last year, most with extremely positive feedback, and I am so excited to do more of it to help people truly change.

Food is probably the number one way I hear that clients and friends are comforting themselves during this quarantine. And it makes sense! Food is one of the few things we have control of right now. We can still go to the grocery store, and a satisfying meal may be the only thing we have to look forward to after a day of isolation and the stressors of working from home (and apparently there are lots!). So if you find yourself indulging a bit more than usual, chalk it up to the current time we are in. You're definitely not alone!

Although everyone's experience right now is different, there are several large themes I am hearing across sessions. This is probably number one and has been edging out anxiety and fears concerning getting the virus. Please give this a read to better understand why motivation levels are down and you're finding it hard to get everything checked off on your to-do list. Compassion and gentleness with yourself is key right now. We will get through this! 💓

Whether you're a man or a woman, do you find yourself falling for people who are just plain wrong for you? "Painting red flags green," as a good friend of mine puts it, most often leads to pain and disappointment. Contact me to work towards changing this pattern and finally finding someone compatible!
