Identifying a toxic environment can be very hard when you have Imposter Syndrome because we are often more focused on what we are doing wrong than be aware of environments. However, in working on recovery, it becomes very important to learn to distinguish the signs of the type of toxic work environments that are death traps for us early on.⁠

That way, we can either never start there in the first place, handle the situations in different ways or get out.⁠

Third book deal signed! Lisa Orbe-Austin and I are happy to announce that we have just signed the contract for our third book with our publisher Ulysses Press! We are super excited to work with their team again and to produce another impactful book, which will be published in 2025. More details to come...but for now, it is time to kickstart my writing schedule again!

Join us this Thursday at 6:30pm ET as we discuss ways to break free of toxic systems. Often when we struggle with Imposter Syndrome being in a toxic system can feel like being in a prison with a life sentence.⁠
⁠
While others see us as smart, capable of being in other places, and having so many options, we see ourselves as trapped, we can’t leave (because no one else will want us), and fearful of what will happen if we do leave.⁠
⁠
Our loved ones often get angry with us - telling us things like “if you are so unhappy just leave” like it’s so easy, but for us, it often feels like the hardest thing in the world.⁠
⁠
Leaving (even if the most toxic of places) is not our forté. We are used to:⁠
👉🏽 Making it work⁠
👉🏽 Pleasing even the most terrible of bosses⁠
👉🏽 Being the last survivor (when everyone else has left we are still there)⁠
👉🏽 Sacrificing ourselves in toxic environments⁠
