Obesity is a major public health crisis—but too often, insurance companies make it harder, not easier, to access care.

Dr. Matthew Weissman and Dr. Nina Paddu from Maimonides Health are calling for change. In their new op-ed, they highlight the urgent need for insurance providers to recognize obesity as a medical specialty and remove barriers to treatment.

Maimonides is offering a free safety course designed to prepare middle schoolers to stay safe when home alone, caring for younger siblings, or babysitting.

This instructor-led class includes interactive roleplaying, safety scenarios, and hands-on practice with manikins to learn critical skills like choking rescue and CPR.

📅 Registration is required at least 7 days before the class date.

July is UV Safety Month! Protect your skin, protect your health. UV rays from the sun can cause premature aging, eye damage, and increase your risk of skin cancer—even on cloudy days.

Tips to stay safe:
✔️ Wear broad-spectrum sunscreen (SPF 30 or higher)
🕶️ Use sunglasses that block 100% of UVA & UVB rays
👒 Cover up with hats and long sleeves
🌳 Seek shade, especially between 10 AM and 4 PM
