🔎 5 Surprising Reasons You’re Not Losing Weight

1️⃣You eat carbs before protein.
By starting every meal with protein before you eat carbohydrates, you’ll slow the absorption of sugars from the carbs and feel more satisfied on less food.

2️⃣You’re not getting enough quality sleep.
Getting less than 6 hours of restful sleep can boost the secretion of the stress hormone cortisol, which regulates appetite, and causes cravings for quick energy from fast-burning carbs.

3️⃣Your testosterone is low.
After age 30, levels of this important hormone decline in men and women, causing a reduction in muscle mass. Less muscle = more fat. Oral birth control reduces testosterone in women, causing weight gain. Have your free testosterone checked.

4️⃣You’re exercising wrong.
Are you only doing cardio? Make sure you do at least two sessions of muscle-and-strength-building workers per week. Muscle is more metabolically active than fat, so the more you build the more weight you lose over the long term. And mix in some high-intensity interval training (HIIT).

5️⃣You may have a thyroid disorder.
A thyroid deficiency can lead to weight gain. If you rule out the other causes of gaining pounds, ask your doctor for these blood tests: TSH, T3, T4 and thyroid antibodies.
