Statement from American Friends of ALYN
September 8, 2025

American Friends of ALYN is deeply heartbroken by the tragic shooting attack that occurred this morning at Ramot Junction in Jerusalem, where two assailants opened fire at a crowded bus stop during the morning rush hour. According to authorities, six individuals lost their lives and numerous others were injured—some critically—before the attackers were neutralized by emergency responders.

ALYN Hospital stands for compassion and care for children across Israel, irrespective of faith or background. Today’s violence strikes at the core of our community’s values, and no cause can ever justify the targeting of innocent lives.

Our hearts go out to the families of the victims, to those who are injured, and to all who are reeling from the trauma of this senseless act. We stand with the people of Jerusalem in mourning, and we extend our deepest support to the medical professionals and first responders who are already at work providing urgent care.

In the face of such darkness, we reaffirm our unwavering commitment to the well-being of all children. At ALYN, our mission—to rehabilitate children with disabilities and serious illnesses—is rooted in the belief that every individual deserves a safe and peaceful future.

Our Story

American Friends of ALYN Hospital has proudly supported the hospital since 1932. ALYN is Israel's premier rehabilitation center, providing rehabilitation to physically disabled children from birth to young adulthood. Since its humble beginnings as a polio clinic, the overriding mission of ALYN has been to help each child reach the highest possible levels of mobility and independence.
