IOT Free-Form Insights Part 53

Gaze Efficiency and Its Importance in Progressive Lens Design

The dedicated scientists and optical engineers at IOT have once again made strides in enhancing the visual quality for those who wear progressive lenses. They achieved this by establishing that task specific progressive power lens (PPL) designs enhance gaze efficiency. In the study referenced below, their findings suggest that task-specific lens designs, like PPL-Distance and PPL-Near, are more effective for their respective visual tasks, optimizing gaze metrics for comfortable and efficient viewing.

A New Color from Oz
By Linda Conlin, Pro to Pro Managing Editor

Scientists at the University of California, Berkeley, believe they have found a new color outside the realm of natural color vision. By stimulating individual cone cells in the retina using a laser, they claim to have pushed subjects’ color perception beyond its natural limits.

Nature as the Ultimate Muse

Some of the most iconic fashion designs draw deep inspiration from nature. Artists, designers and craftsmen have long looked to nature’s vast color palette, patterns and organic textures to create classic styles.

As sustainability becomes a growing priority across industries, the optical world is no exception. Eyecare and eyewear professionals are not just here to provide quality products and services, we’re also shaping the future of what eyewear represents—that means curating dispensary spaces and eyewear collections to reflect today’s evolving standards, including a strong commitment to sustainability.

Designing Your Optical Space for Brand Image, Patient Experience, and the Future
Invest in Your Future Success with Expert Design Services

Having previously owned optical retail locations, I empathize with those looking to open their first location. While an exciting time filled with hopeful anticipation, the task is complex and frankly overwhelming, with ample opportunity to get it wrong! If I had it to do over again, I would not hesitate to seek professional design services to help plan and execute the build-out. In this course, you will learn why optical practice design is best left to the experts. You will learn about the changing demographics of today’s consumer and their preference for making purchases at brick-and-mortar stores versus online. Finally, you will see the 11-step plan that goes beyond the design and installation of the physical space. In this course, you will learn from optical practice design experts and course sponsor, Eye Designs Group.
