After Super Typhoon Sinlaku, American Red Cross on Long Island volunteer Peter King flew to Tinian, Northern Mariana Islands to support families in a local shelter, sharing stories and strength with fellow volunteers.

“It’s where two Red Cross volunteers are strangers at breakfast and friends by dinner.”

For Peter, those connections are what keep him coming back. This deployment may be his last — what he calls “a terrific swan song.”

“Life has been good to me, and I’m giving back… I want to leave the world better than I found it.”

Thank you Peter for your service to our country, in your community and around the globe.
