12 years ago today, Project Hope NY dropped off our very first donation to the kids in the pediatric unit at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.
Project Hope NY started from my own personal tragedy. In 2012, my mother had a brain aneurysm and ended up being in a coma for months after the surgery. Followed by two more surgeries and many months of rehab to learn to walk, eat, and do everyday tasks again.
While she was in the hospital, my father and I would be by her side 16-18 hours each day, every day. Hospitals are a very stressful place. Small acts of kindness from strangers, nurses/ doctors, and our family/ friends while going through that trying time really made a difference in our day. It was those acts of kindness that planted the seeds and Project Hope NY came to fruition a year later.
We lost my mother almost 6 years ago. She was selfless and so caring. I definitely got my love for helping others from her. And I will continue to honor her and keep her memory alive by doing so.
Weβve met many amazing people throughout the years. Generous, kindhearted, lifelong friends. Without them, Project Hope NY wouldn't have accomplished as much as we have. And for that, we will be forever grateful.
I feel helping people and giving back to the community is my true calling. It's a lot of work and countless hours but I wouldn't change any of it for the world. It's my heart!
Here's to the future and all it's endless possibilities. And to many more years of Helping Hands, Helping Hearts...
