"The prognosis was grim, to say the least, and the treatments available at the time were extremely limited," describes Sharon, who was diagnosed with stage 4 melanoma at age 22. Taking a leap of courage, she enrolled in a clinical trial for an experimental immunotherapy called ipilimumab (Yervoy), built upon research pioneered by CRI Scientific Advisory Council Director Dr. Jim Allison, and led by CRI SAC Associate Director Dr. Jedd Wolchok.
