Healing Our Parts Psychotherapy Services

My name is Mike Brennan-Cotayo, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who received a Master’s in Social Work from New York University in 2000. A majority of my post-master’s career has been spent working within the HIV/AIDS community as a social worker, advocate, community organizer, counselor and administrator. In 2007, I began my training as a Gestalt Therapist to solidify my counseling skills to more effectively give to those individuals, couples, families, and groups that I serve.

The closure of the Bayonne Mental Health Clinic has been a real loss for the Bayonne community. As someone who worked there, I know firsthand how special that clinic was—not just as a service, but as a place of care, connection, and trust for so many people. 💙

Losing a resource like that leaves a gap, and mental health care is not something our community can afford to lose access to.

At Healing Our Parts, we want to help bridge that gap. We’re honored to have welcomed several clinicians from the Bayonne Mental Health Clinic into our virtual practice, so familiar, compassionate care can continue—even if the setting looks a little different.

If you or someone you love is looking for therapy support, we’re here.
To get started, please call or text our intake coordinator at 201-658-2918.

Bayonne deserves accessible, affirming mental health care—and we’re committed to being part of that support system.

THE DAILY SHOW TRIGGERED AN UNPRECEDENTED STORM AFTER 30 YEARS ON AIR.
In the very first episode of 2026, eight of the show’s most powerful hosts ignited a direct war with Pam Bondi under a brutal, unmistakable theme:

“READ THE BOOK — COWARD.”

There was no laughter.
No satire.
No safety net.

That night, national television transformed into something else entirely—a live courtroom.

Jon Stewart stood, lifted a heavy stack of files, and slammed them onto the desk. The sound cut through the studio like a verdict. His eyes locked everyone in place. Behind him, eight hosts rose at once, silent and unflinching, as if reading from an indictment no one could escape.

The message was repeated—cold, sharp, and impossible to ignore:

If you’ve never opened the book, don’t pretend you have the courage to speak about the truth.

For 20 unscripted minutes, the rules vanished.
Names were read aloud.
Questions were hurled like blades.
No metaphors. No dodging. No retreat.

Social media erupted instantly. Hashtags surged to the top of global trends within minutes. Viewers didn’t just watch—they reacted, argued, chose sides.

The Daily Show didn’t soften the moment.
It didn’t walk it back.
It chose confrontation.

And in doing so, it forced America to choose as well.

This was no longer entertainment.
This was no longer comedy.

This was a public challenge to power—live, unfiltered, and impossible to ignore.

Many years ago, I was operating a food distribution under a bridge in Pensacola. I got a call from a guy who wanted to volunteer, and his name was Mike Kimberl. Since that day, Mike has been a tireless advocate for those living on the streets.

He launched the local chapter of Food Not Bombs.

Provided clothing, food, and support during the local Occupy protests.

He quite literally had my back when I was threatened with arrest while speaking at a city council meeting.

He runs a free campsite for those without homes and is the director of the Alfred-Washburn Center, which provides food, clothing, showers, and laundry services.

Yesterday, the Friday after Thanksgiving, an officer arrived at the Martin Luther King Plaza and arrested Mike for giving folks food. I want the deep irony of that to sink in for a moment. Under the shadow of a bust of MLK, as folks stood in line to eat, a cop put a Good Samaritan in handcuffs.

I’m going to give some details below about how you can help.
