RUMC is a not-for-profit healthcare provider serving the ethnically diverse community of Staten Island and its neighbors. The medical center provides premier-quality patient care through a full spectrum of emergent, acute, primary, behavioral health, and educational services. MC is a Level 1 Trauma Center and a designated Stroke Center, receiving top national recognition from the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association. The state-of-the-art Cardiac Catheterization Lab has PCI capabilities for elective and emergent procedures in angioplasty. RUMC maintains a Wound Care/Hyperbaric Center and a Sleep Disorder Center on-site at its main campus. The hospital also offers behavioral health services, encompassing both inpatient and outpatient services for children, adolescents, and adults, including emergent inpatient and mobile outreach units. RUMC is the only borough facility that offers inpatient psychiatric services for adolescents.

July's honoree is Emanoil Magdy Shafik, DPM. Dr. Shafik is a PGY-3 in the Podiatry Department. He was born in Cairo, Egypt and graduated in 2023 from the New York College of Podiatric Medicine.

Newly elected Council Member Frank Morano recently visited Richmond University Medical Center as he tours facilities across Staten Island that service his district. Council Member Morano represents the 51st Council District which includes communities along the south shore and mid-island. As part of the Staten Island City Council Delegation, and in partnership with Council Speaker Adrienne Adams, Council Member Morano helped secure $1.4 million in the city’s recently passed FY2026 budget.
