Hi I am Anna and I am an Iranian Psychotherapist.
I am proud to be part of an Iranian culture where I was taught to be warm and personable and caring towards others. However I realize that coming from a Middle Eastern background, mental health is somewhat stigmatized.
I take pride in the fact that I am in the helping profession where I work with adults who are either suffering from anxiety, relationship or familial stressors or are experiencing career related challenges.
Clients who seek therapy are self-aware and are motivated to take charge in order to live more fulfilling and happier lives.
I also enjoy working with Clients from diverse cultures. Throughout the years, I have had the pleasure of working with the Hispanic Community, the Italian and the Irish Communities as well as the Middle Eastern Communities.
I also have extensive experience working with the LGBTQ Population.
I have a holistic approach where I address my Client's emotional and physical well-being, exploring their coping mechanisms as well as their nutritional habits, their sleep hygiene as well as their support systems and their social interactions.
I also promote Mindfulness Techniques , Meditation and Journaling. I believe these are all great tools towards addressing emotional symptoms.
I also like to give homework.
I use a combination of Psychodynamic, CBT and Solution Focused Modalities with my Clients in treatment.
I always ask my Clients the MAGIC QUESTION when I first start working with them.
What is the MAGIC QUESTION?
"What transformation are you looking to achieve by working with me and what difference would it make in your life?"
Based on their responses, we make a plan together taking an abstract idea and making it a realistic and achievable goal.
