Most of us do not know, and yet it is the most important question we can ask ourselves. Beauty and health are about that exploration of who we are, and how we can bring that exploration out as the art of our lives. Living holistically means being able to be yourself completely. Our patterns, behaviors, food preferences, body type, haircut, radiance of our skin and style are all reflections of how we feel inside. Health and beauty comes naturally when all of who you are is integrated, from what you eat, to what you wear. It’s about congruence; learning who you are and expressing it, inside and out, skin to bones. Get this down and you will glow. How I Practice:

A central part of my practice is teaching people about what they need to have excellent health. A key is educating patients about the gut and its function in overall health and weight. When you have strong digestion your health improves, you feel cleaner and look better. Oftentimes, people feel heavier when they are experiencing bloating, constipation or water retention. These symptoms can easily be resolved when you find out the cause of why you are having these problems and learn what foods to eat and when to eat them. Sometimes, it’s about learning simple, specific principles that work for you, and consistently applying them in your daily life. Once that framework is created, you actually enjoy better health, freedom in you food choices and can get rid of the deprivation. When you are absorbing everything you eat and eliminating everything you don’t need, you are clearing your blood. A natural result of this is an overall radiance, clear skin and a lean body. I design custom protocols based on an individual’s lifestyle, so it gives results and takes into account the person’s whole health history. When I get the entire health history, one thing I can see are the patterns of what a person’s habits have been their entire life. I get to see what the person likes to eat and what the person does not like to eat. This allows me to include some of their favorite foods into their program, to make their program fit comfortably in their lifestyle. I evaluate the emotional, mental, physical and spiritual health and a lifestyle of a patient and how they all fit together. Where you live, work, your relationships, your ethnic background and so forth all have a piece in your overall health. Being seen as an individual:

There are downfalls when nutritionists, trainers or doctors try and cookie cut people into one mold, and give everyone the same protocol. We are all very different in our constitution and our needs. A person working on Wall Street can have very different needs than a Stay-At-Home Mother. When we are all so different, how can we have one strict program for everyone? It doesn’t make sense and it doesn’t work in the long run. The downfall with cookie-cutting people is that people have trouble keeping up with their program and often feel defeated and catapult back into old patterns. You have to learn what is healthy for ‘you’, there is no one healthy food or lifestyle for everyone, it’s what is right for you at this time. There is no such thing as a healthy food, someone’s medicine can be another person’s poison. Health comes when you live the life which is right for you. The key is to find what this is and live it.

There is nourishment in nuance.

This is a time when the subtle speaks louder (whispers) than the concrete.

Though the appearances are constantly shape shifting, underneath is something unchanging.

It's the way flowers speak.

The way senses all merge and sweet feels and sounds taste. It's this.

Nuance is not about self care in saunas, cold plunges, Netflix and smoothies.

Nuance is about stopping and gazing at the sky and soaking in what drips down...

Right now, there is a lot of nuance to be noticed. Take off the glasses and look again. Listen closer. The obvious may change when you pause.

Nuanced nourishment may be slower to arrive into your sphere but goes deeper into the bones.

Notice it. 🌹

Came on from my social media posting break for this PSA: this is a time for inaction.

There is power in inaction. 👆🏻

A lot of ancy (is this a word?) in the air.

A lot of emotions rising in all forms from sickness expressed to despair to ecstatic moments. Ride it out. Ride it out.

It's not the time to scream from the rooftops.

A LOT is happening A LOT has happened. Take time with this.

We don't do well with waiting in this culture. We want it all right now all the time.

Being someone who needs a lot of solitude and space and understands its essentiality, I want to assure you all will not be lost if you just PAUSE right now.

Much of this uneasy feeling is the sense of what's coming in the upcoming Spring. Take heed. Make things simple and beautiful in your space starting with your BODY.

Reassess quietly your impulses, your goals and your pleasures.

Look at your routines.

Step back and inwards.

It's not the time for major reconnections and socializing. It's ok to hide. It going to get wild fast next month so for now observe and reflect on the last (crazy) year.

Let it feel weird. It's a weird time!

First post of 2024, before any about detox & beginnings. This. Pith.

What would life be like if you actually had a visceral felt sense of every moment being complete, full and fresh?

What if there was a deep knowing there is no missing out ever?

I read this and RELAXED. The point.

In the fullness of just this, then the next person, food to eat or not eat, the next decision, the next anything arises. Within it. No outsourcing our minds and centers into something outside with yearning.

I read this 10x today and been reflecting on it.

Relax.

Back to center. Whew. Exhale. Land.

We can still detox, but first no FOMO.

Can you see (feel) doors?

Doors are meant to walk through.

Major symbol.

Subtle seeing of doors comes from grounding in the body.

How is your perception?

When they appear. When they disappear. When the key appears to walk in. When they vanish and you choose to turn away.

In an ending of a year, remember that ritualizing closing of doors are as important, if not more so than the opening of them. This is quite often forgotten.

Last week I decided to move all my potted wildflowers off the ground and place them on the balcony sill.

Nothing had grown in them for months and decided a change could be nice.

A few days later it poured rain. I didn't expect it or for my pots to be overflowing with inches of water 😩

I thought for sure they were destroyed. Saddened, I left them as is for days afterwards.

This morning, I went to remove the water and clean up the mess.

To my astonishment, 5 of the pots had multiple seeds in different started stages of sprouting 🌱!

It was a Xmas miracle 😏

I reflected on this all day.

These pots had been watered on a regular schedule. Yet nothing sprouted since last Spring.

They had to be literally soaked and saturated to show life. Ponder this.

I almost trashed them because I could not see the seeds hiding there and thought they had drowned...

This time of deep Winter is exactly like this. Seeds from beyond time and space and within this Time are in the darkness deep.

Sometimes certain seeds haven't been watered ever and need stillness and special nourishment (being soaked) to show life. Wow.

Don't rush.

Just feel into the nourishment quality you need even if no outer result shows now. Mostly it won't. Deep waters are the way right now. Womb time. Bathe in it. Don't even worry about what's gonna show. Just know how you soak is how you grow.

Reflect on the multiple analogies here. How much nourishment allows you to grow at any given moment?

Let in the DELUGE.

Respect your digestion.

Respect your digestive fire.

If you can't digest it then it's "not" food. You aren't eating it, it's eating you. 📣

We digest everything we take in with our 5 senses. Yes, that's music, touch, smells, visuals...

It's the time to pull all your senses into your center so that digestion does itself. Ideally.

In the holiday outer chaotic-reality this may look a bit different. Choose your dessert choice, quality and portion. More so, learn when too much is enough even it's before the first bite, the first hello or first foot into the door. 🚪

We all have to digest our interactions and relationships. Or we try to digest them. Learn limits and respect them.

When we don't respect our digestion, all types of breakdowns happen. To our skin, to our weight, to our life and yes to our mind (mental breakdown 🔕).

Don't stuff your emotions into food or people. Express them in movement, writing, stillness, and even moments in private bathrooms breathing. Whatever works is medicine.

That digestive fire is your desire. So yeah, respect!

Keep that fire in your center lit. Learn its voice subtle first so it doesn't scream to get your attention.

With Awareness of what you let in, there is less to purge out.

Nourishment and elimination dance smoothly.

When we force and override our basic needs we are forced to detox the excess.

Purging is much more intense than not letting it in initially. This has become an addiction in this society.

Slow down.

Smaller bites.
what you let in. People. Places. Stimuli. This is all food. Filter. What comes in? How much is pollution that will have to be let out? Watch what you imprint yourself with through media.

Woke up with this phrase reverberating in my mind.

Nourishment is simple.

Nourishment is visceral. It's tangible. It's felt.

Nourishment fills you up.

When toxicity is "mixed" with that which should nourish, all types of problems ensue. This ranges from mental upset all the way to autoimmunity.

Nourishment is simple and should feel SAFE.

In modern city living there is a bombardment of the unnatural. When we get enough mixed cues we forget how to digest that which is simply good. Our subtle and gross body gets confused by what is feeding our blood and what is draining. This complication has us reaching for the wrong things and pushing away the wrong things.

Simplify.

Take it back to basic goodness.

Bring warmth back to your food, to your relationships, to your heart. 💙

Connect.

Resonate.

Connect.

Take your time.

Cleanse your containers so they can hold you.

A touch should renew.

A food should fill.

Beauty should linger.

Take out the poison. Take away the complication. Find the ground.

Keep nourishment simple so you are actually nourished. 🌹

Sometimes you just can't and that's ok.

Anyone relate?

Listen to yourself.

I hear this all the time from patients.

In hard moments or intense moments you just can't digest the energy. It's ok.

Sometimes you can't do the protocol.

You can't make the call.

You can't open the email.

You can't get out of your pajamas.

You can't stop crying.

You can't meditate.

You can't finish your deadline.

You can't take action.

Overwhelm happens. It's been a very surreal year.

When you can't. It's ok to self soothe.

Netflix
Chocolate
Blankets
Painting
Hiding
Pausing
Screaming
Silence

When you can't, take your energy and focus completely off the situation for a hour, a day, a week. Just pour into your 5 sense container all the goodness you can muster. What makes you you? What little things make your return to your ground and earth?

The protocol, person, project, email can wait until tomorrow. And if it can't, then pause for 5 solid minutes. Pour into you.

Make a list of your favorite sense nourishments. It's ok.

Life is real. And it can be messy. Those migraines, the emergencies, the urges, the breakdowns, the news and sometimes you can't anymore.

Spring is a time of bursting.

It can be easy to get reactive and think something is nourishing when it's actually draining. When everything moves fast all at once, this is the result.

Pause.

Pause again.

🫶🏾 Is the convo nourishing?

🫶🏾 Does work have to finish?

🫶🏾 Are your current actions for today feeding you or draining you?

Subtly can be difficult to gauge right now.

With so much outward bloom, it's not easy to STOP 🛑 and go inwards.

Yet, a pause is the right answer.

Pause even for 5 minutes and ask your BODY if whatever is happening is what you actually need?

The pause allows you to pull the reigns back, to ride the Tiger so it doesn't consume you.

Then after you pause.. you can PIVOT.

Pivot towards (inwards) into that which gives you the exhale and space.

Next steps will show themselves.

Just realign to yourself and face a new direction. A nourishing direction.

Pause ... & Pivot
