10 years ago on Thanksgiving Day we announced to the world (well social media) that I was pregnant. I received weekly 90 minute massages throughout my pregnancy and worked till 38 weeks on my feet helping other pregnant women feel good. My doctors wanted to induce me because I was borderline pre-eclamptic. I said NO! (Until it was necessary) she was born 1 day shy of 39 weeks. I had an unexpected c-section after hoping for a drug free birth. I don't remember holding my baby because I was loopy afterwards and when asked if I wanted to I said no because I'm gonna throw up (which I did) . It took me 10 week to establish breastfeeding which is an eternity.

This is a happy post, I promise you! You never forget your birth story. You repeat it as much as you need to. I had so much knowledge, so much support and still things did not go my way. It's one of the most unpredictable things in life. I came to terms with all of it quickly and accepted. Now I have a feisty, strong, almost 10 year old. I've been working with this community for over 25 years, the work doesn't change. But now I can really empathize, share and I became a lactation consultant and continue learning everyday. I joke that I went thru so much that I now know what many of you are going thru. I'm thankful for every experience that led me to where I am now to continue to support you through your journey. I love being a part of it . So THANK YOU to YOU, my amazing clients and families, my colleagues and teachers. I'm in awe everyday and love my job!!
