The Five Lights Center of Shiatsu Studies
At the Five Lights Center, located New York City's Upper West Side, we believe that to give and receive the healing touch is the most human and innate of activities.
Give a Go MEANS Five Shiki MEANS light Kan MEANS Center: In modern shiatsu teachings, Go Shiki refers to the heat and energy in our hands. When we bring our two hands together in a gesture of reverence (Gassho), the right hand represents the Buddha and the left hand represents our own, physical being. Through our touch, we pray for healing energy and light to balance our energy channels in mind and body. Our motto is: The Power of Touchโข We develop our inner ear in order to hear the flow of energy. We strive to let go of our egos, projections and judgments, to become healing light, able to give loving kindness to others. Participants are aided in their pursuit of peace, healing, health and freedom from restriction and pain. The Center for five lights offers Shiatsu, Reiki, Yoga, Qi Gong, Karate, Makko ho stretches, mindful meditation and other practices. These practices have proved to be effective tools and powerful pathways for creating and sustaining individual, family and community wellness. We foster deep communal support among members and a sense that the work is a group effort for the benefit of all of humanity and the Earth.
