Neuropsychology reveals that romantic love, attachment, and s*x activate interconnected brain networks. Attachment fosters long-term bonding through brain areas like the ventral tegmental area, creating emotional security. Sexual desire is driven by the brain’s reward system, enhancing passion and physical attraction. Love integrates both, activating emotional connection while deactivating critical judgment, allowing idealization and commitment.

Neurofeedback treatment, which trains the brain to self-regulate, can enhance these neural processes by improving emotional resilience, communication, and empathy—key factors for healthy relationships. By helping individuals manage stress and past trauma, neurofeedback strengthens the foundation for deeper, more fulfilling connections built on trust, desire, and mutual respect.

A healthy relationship, in essence, is the product of a balance between attachment, desire, love, and mutual understanding. As neuropsychology shows us, these processes are intricately linked within the brain, and when individuals are equipped to regulate their emotions and mental states, they can foster deeper, more fulfilling connections.

Still looking for a Valentine’s Day gift? How about a talk therapy session?

We’ll admit it’s not the usual flowers and chocolates but this may be one of the best things you can gift yourself and your relationship.

Therapy is a safe space where you can discuss your thoughts, feelings, and concerns with a trained professional and work to create positive changes in your life.

With individual therapy sessions, these changes can look like learning how to practice self-love, create boundaries, build healthy (platonic and romantic) relationships, and foster personal growth.

For couples, therapy can help you improve communication with each other, navigate hardships together, deepen your emotional connection, and build a solid foundation for a healthy, lasting relationship.

Investing in yourself and your relationships is always worth it.

Neuroplasticity is the brain’s incredible ability to reorganize itself by forming new neural connections throughout life. This adaptability means that our brain is not static but continuously evolving, reshaping, and rewiring in response to experiences, learning, and even healing. One of the most powerful ways to harness this remarkable process is through brain training techniques like neurofeedback.

Neurofeedback is a non-invasive, therapeutic approach that uses real-time monitoring of brainwave activity to help individuals learn how to regulate their brain function. By providing feedback on brainwave patterns, neurofeedback helps you become more aware of how your brain operates, making it possible to improve mental states, focus, and emotional regulation.

When combined with neuroplasticity, neurofeedback becomes a transformative tool. It helps retrain the brain, encouraging it to create healthier neural connections and optimize its performance. Whether you’re managing conditions like depression, anxiety, ADHD, or even stress, neurofeedback can help “rewire” the brain, teaching it to function in a more balanced and effective way.

Imagine your brain as a muscle that needs training and care. Just like physical exercise strengthens the body, neurofeedback strengthens the brain. By using the brain’s natural neuroplastic abilities, neurofeedback can assist in creating lasting positive changes, helping you enhance cognitive function, emotional well-being, and mental clarity.

Through consistent neurofeedback sessions, you’re not just treating symptoms; you’re supporting your brain’s ability to heal and thrive. Whether you’re dealing with a specific mental health challenge or just seeking better overall brain performance, neurofeedback is a powerful tool for unlocking your brain’s potential. Embrace the transformative power of neuroplasticity and start your journey toward a healthier, more balanced mind today.

Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) is a type of depression that typically occurs during certain times of the year, most often in the fall and winter months. It is one of the most prevalent mood disorders, affecting millions of people worldwide. In the U.S., it is estimated that around 1 in 5 individuals may experience SAD at some point in their lives. SAD is characterized by a persistent low mood, fatigue, changes in sleep patterns, changes in appetite (often with cravings for carbohydrate-rich foods), loss of interest in daily activities, and in severe cases, thoughts of su***de.

Seasonal Affective Disorder is not a personal weakness, a character flaw, or a mood that one can simply “snap out of.” It is a serious mental health issue that can affect people of all ages. If left untreated, SAD can significantly impair an individual’s ability to work, attend school, maintain relationships, and manage everyday tasks such as eating and sleeping.

Neurofeedback therapy for individuals with SAD: research has shown there are a number of irregularities in brain structure, volume, and circuitry. Neurofeedback therapy can help to weaken the neural circuits associated with depression symptoms, and strengthen neural pathways associated with emotional regulation and balanced mood.

A phobia is a type of anxiety disorder defined by persistent and excessive fear of an object or situation.

Some symptoms you may be experiencing can include:
- Fear or anxiety that is out of proportion to the actual danger of the situation.
- Significant problems with social situations, work, or other areas in your life because of fear, anxiety, or avoidance of people, places, and things.
- Feelings of feelings of panic, entrapment, helplessness, or embarrassment.

It’s important to confront and deal effectively with phobias before feelings of fear and anxiety become too debilitating and impair normal functioning. At Brain Resource Center, we offer a number of personalized treatments that can help you return to normal social activities and the outside world.

Brain Resource center offers psychotherapy and exposure therapy to successfully treat phobias. Exposure therapy or desensitization therapy is a type of cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) involving gradual exposure to your fear, so you can feel less anxious about it. CBT can help you manage your problems by changing thought and behavior patterns. Neurofeedback can help regulate extreme emotional responses involved in agoraphobia, and strengthen neural pathways associated with logical reasoning, calm, and emotional balance.

If you are struggling please call us at (212)877-2130 to book your appointment today and start your journey to better brain health and improved quality of life.

12/07/2024

Neural networks associated with empathy and mindfulness are closely located within the brain, suggesting a shared neurological basis for these complex emotional and cognitive states. On a daily basis, we encounter a wide range of stimuli, which our brain processes and responds to in a matter of seconds. Empathy involves several key brain regions, such as the amygdala and the anterior insular cortex, while mindfulness has been linked to the anterior cingulate cortex and also the amygdala. These areas are particularly responsive to neurofeedback techniques.

Neurofeedback sessions involve the placement of electrodes on the scalp to monitor specific brain activity, which we aim to modulate in order to achieve healthier brain patterns.

Throughout a neurofeedback session, the brain receives real-time feedback about its activity. When brainwave patterns are in alignment with desired outcomes, positive reinforcement is provided through auditory or visual stimuli, such as music. Conversely, feedback is withdrawn when patterns deviate from optimal functioning. This process helps the brain adjust its activity, gradually learning to regulate itself more effectively.

With continued practice, neurofeedback encourages the brain to not only move away from maladaptive patterns but also form new, healthier neural pathways. This process, driven by neuroplasticity—the brain’s ability to reorganize and adapt—can lead to long-lasting improvements in mental well-being, promoting a more balanced and harmonious cognitive state. By actively engaging in neurofeedback, individuals can experience a profound transformation in both emotional and cognitive functioning.

An estimated 1 billion people in the world suffer from migraines at least 4 million of which experience chronic migraines. A migraine is a severe and debilitating headache that can cause severe throbbing or pulsing sensations usually on one side of the head. They can cause extreme light and sound sensitivity, nausea and vomiting. They may last anywhere from a few minutes to a few days.

Migraines often go undiagnosed or untreated individual self medicate with pain relieving medication often without any long-term relief. Neurofeedback therapy has been shown to alleviate migraine symptoms by targeting the neurological origins of the disorder. The therapy can also help to relieve stress and anxiety symptoms that conserve as triggers for migraines.

not everyone with migraines demonstrate the same abnormalities and brainwave activities levels of different types of brain, waves and location of abnormal brain activity vary from person-to-person. Performing an EEG assessment will help us identify the abnormal brain activity and allow us to design a customized protocol that will treat your brain to correct these specific abnormalities.

This , we honor the courage and sacrifice of all those who have served and we recognize the battles many continue to face.

PTSD is one of the most common mental health challenges veterans face. The intense stress and danger faced during service can leave the body in a constant state of hypervigilance. This doesn’t simply turn “off” upon arriving home. The brain, wired to detect threats, may still perceive danger even in safe environments, making it challenging to feel at ease. This persistent heightened response can have a devastating impact on one’s mental health, physical health, personal relationships, and overall quality of life.

Healing from PTSD is a gradual process, but with the right tools and support, veterans can navigate life beyond survival mode and reclaim a sense of peace and control. Visit brainresourcecenter.com or call us at 212-877-2130 to learn how we can help you process your trauma and calm your nervous system.
