National Center for Dynamic Interactome Research (NCDIR)

We are four labs across the USA carrying out cutting-edge research in the fields of molecular and cellular biology. The desperate need for technologies that can quickly and reliably reveal the dynamic cellular interactome drove the formation of our National Center for Dynamic Interactome Research (NCDIR). To achieve the goals of our Center, we are creating techniques that follow this interplay at a timescale and spatial resolution appropriate for the elucidation of how cellular processes work. Our Center’s goal include creating robust, innovative new tools to enable the visualization, isolation, and analysis of macromolecular complexes to reveal their dynamic behavior -- testing them on discrete biological systems found at key steps along the pathway of cellular information arising from a signal inducing transcription through protein production to a cellular response; these systems together encapsulate many of the major problems that are faced in proteomic investigations of cellular processes. Secondly, we aim to place these proven tools in the hands of biomedical researchers, through publication and seminars, through web-based and hands-on training, and through new reagents and strains, so that they can realize the full potential of the revolution brought about by genomics.
