Let's meet up in Albany to make some noise for the at Gov Hochul's State of the State Address on Tuesday January 14!

Tell Gov Hochul & our state lawmakers to in 2025, without delay, to provide universal single payer healthcare to all who live OR work full time in New York. Our state lawmakers have the power to protect NYers from delays & denial of care for profit by insurance corporations, drug price gouging by big pharma, and from attacks on healthcare by the incoming presidential administration.

Communities should have a say in what happens to their hospitals. We share in the deep disappointment in Gov. Hochul’s veto.

I’m deeply disappointed Governor Kathy Hochul vetoed my LICH Act with Hon. Gustavo Rivera.

It would have improved NY oversight and community engagement BEFORE, not after a hospital or major unit closes. Closures leave New Yorkers struggling with reduced healthcare & longer emergency response times.

These decisions shouldn’t happen behind closed doors where there’s no chance of saving the hospital/unit or planning for the public’s access to healthcare.

This bill has only gained support. Sen Rivera & I remain steadfast in our efforts to pass LICH next session.

The recent unified up-swell of public anger at the corporate greed that lies at the core of the current U.S. healthcare system, makes it clear that people are fed up with being exploited for profit by insurers and big pharma.

Now is the time to confront that greed head-on by advocating for and enacting universal single payer healthcare. We need your support to continue the fight to pass the NY Health Act & lead the way to Medicare for All.

Other nations & countless studies show that universal healthcare works & is less costly than our current system in terms of both lives & money. It’s supported by a majority of voters. It’s up to all of us to demand our legislators put people above their corporate donors.

Organize with us to pass the NY Health Act & Medicare for All - single payer universal healthcare.

Together we can end for-profit insurance interference in our care.
All care for all people should be covered & free at the point of care. Patients & their team of health workers should determine the care needed, not insurance corporations with the perverse incentive to deny care to pocket more money.

We’re at the Summit today in Chicago kicking off the Annual Meeting this weekend. Sharing just some of the incredible poster presentations developed by medical students from SNaHP chapters across the country, including the poster shown in slide 1, created by our current Student Fellows Jennifer Sugijanto & Zachary Gallin! We are so excited for the future of medicine with the incoming generation of brilliant dedicated justice minded health workers advocating for a more just, equitable single payer healthcare system in which we all can thrive.

From SUNY Downstate to Beth Israel, communities deserve to know BEFORE their hospital closes!

Thank you to the New York City Council for your hearing on healthcare access and resolution urging Governor Kathy Hochul to sign my LICH bill with Hon. Gustavo Rivera.

We need better New York State oversight and transparency.

As history repeats itself, it's more important than ever to have stronger state oversight and REAL community engagement to protect the public’s health.

I'm proud to work with a dedicated group of colleagues and advocates.
