Have you ever done a bird/dog and wondered why it feels like a whole lot of…nothing? well, a lot of people on this app recommend bird dogs as a pre/postnatal core exercise but they’re so often demonstrated incorrectly! So let’s take a look at how I’d cue them so you get the most out of them. These should be painfully slow- to the point that you may feel some shaking while doing them! A block can be a great cue if you’re still a little confused.

Workout with me at 6 weeks postpartum as a pre/ postnatal exercise specialist!

First real workout after getting cleared by my provider this week! Slow, intentional movements and using weights significantly lighter than I was lifting during pregnancy. The goal is to ease back in, slow and steady.

The workout:
Full warm up can be found in my 5 week PP video from last week.

360 breathing

1st circuit
Foot elevated bridges
Talk kneeling alt. Shoulder press

2nd circuit
Goblet squat (or body weight)
Single arm row

3rd circuit
Weighted marches
Bear pose knee taps

3 rounds of each, 8-12 reps!

This is the year we stop falling for the propoganda. Getting strong might not get as much attention as extreme weight loss, but the benefits are backed by research and science. You deserve better in 2026.

After experiencing 9 months of pregnancy, a c section, and several weeks of postpartum recovery, I’ve never been more grateful to strength training. I’ve been able to feel and witness firsthand the freedom staying strong and active has given me through this season.
Lots of strangers will have tons of opinions and unsolicited advice about what you should or shouldn’t be doing- but no one besides your medical provider should ever be advising you on what’s best for your body and your experience. Pregnancy is NOT weakness. Pregnant women and mothers are strong as hell- our bodies are incredible and so capable.

My body has been through so many changes over the last 9 months and I can honestly say I’ve never loved it more than I do right now, in this current form- soft, postpartum, c-section scar and all. The body that made my son 🥹

As I near the end of my pregnancy, definitely in my feels about this experience. Every pregnancy is so different and I’m extremely privileged to have the time, capability, and expertise to continue working out like this.

I’m very grateful because lifting throughout has helped me continue to feel like myself even on days when my body didn’t feel like my own. It’s helped mitigate pain flare ups and allowed me to keep working and living an active life up until this point.

As I close in on the final weeks, I’ve never felt so appreciative for this body and what she can do.
