Home, wherever we are. My valentine

Today in Rome, we visited the cats of Torre Argentina Cat Sanctuary.

Beneath ancient ruins and the remnants of empire, we were handed the most vulnerable beings. Blind kittens. Maimed elders. Bodies marked by life on the streets. And humans quietly devoting their days to loving them without hierarchy, reward, or spectacle.

One volunteer placed a kitten in my arms and said, “He lost his eyes, but he loves to be snuggled.”

And my heart softened.

I am carrying grief and rage, like so many of us. Not giving airtime to monsters, but refusing to look away from harm. Standing there, I thought about power, about gods of order and dominance, about how far we have drifted from stewardship.

And yet, just beneath the surface, love persists. Real love. Bodily love. Exhausting, devoted care for those who cannot protect themselves.

What is ascension if it is not learning to love the way God loves?

To listen to the most vulnerable among us, including children, animals, the Earth, and yes, our own bodies and inner knowing.

That kitten gave me more love than I could ever give him. He reminded me that loving our neighbor is not passive or neutral. It is fierce. It is intimate. It restores what hierarchy breaks.

This is why we travel. To step out of numbness and back into relationship. With Mama Earth and all her beautiful beings. And to remember that the way forward has always been through care.

There is a lot of fear being fed to us right now. Fear of one another. Fear of the future. Fear that what we love is slipping through our fingers.

I want to speak plainly.
Hope is not naïve optimism. Hope is a disciplined, embodied choice to stay human when the world pressures us to harden.
It does not mean to shut off our minds and hearts to our neighbor and our world.
I reiterate, an embodied choice to stay human in the face of that which pressures is to harden our hearts.

Our April retreat in Sedona was created in response to this moment. Not as an escape, but as a return. A return to what is real, what is sacred, and what actually strengthens us to live in a good way.

We gather on sacred land during Earth Day week to pray, listen, rest, and remember how to belong to the Earth and to one another again.

July 2024. Newgrange.

Standing with our Serpent and The Dove community on ancient Irish land, we were reminded that sacred places do not demand attention. They invite relationship.

The stones of Newgrange hold memory softly. The red rocks of Sedona speak more boldly. Different earth, same mother. Same call to remember who we are in right relationship with the land.

This Earth Week, we gather at Sedona Sacred Rocks to listen, to learn from animal magic and indigenous teachings, and to ground ourselves once more in Mama Earth’s wisdom.

If you feel the quiet pull to walk sacred ground and deepen your connection to the living world, we would be honored to share that journey with you.

There is a present and tangible hunger for peace, grace, love, and Spirit—and validation, as we collectively navigate chaos. We seek answers that feed us, but not all answers nourish us. Conspiracy theories, hate, division, worshipping another, thinking they are closer to God, than one’s Self, because their narrative salves a bit, but only invokes more, hysteria.

It’s only when we ground into the sacredness of our own bodies, our own Spirit, and thus the Spirit and sacredness of our neighbors, those placed in our path by chance or grace, are we able to tune into that which is physical, real, present and true.

Truth as a person, Truth as the Spirit within each and every one of us. The opposite of grounding and centering in the physical world is not celestial wisdom; it is scattered, flighty, airy, and, if I may offer, susceptible.

Grounding in, opening our eyes, often helps us discern illusion and fantasy from Truth, a Truth which nourishes us with the peace and grace that passes all understanding. The Mystic does not curate magic in her head alone in her room, she grounds her magic, love, beauty, and Truth towards herself and alongside her neighbor.

We want to take a moment to send warmth and love to all who are struggling with the state of the world right now. It is my intention, as a spiritual facilitator, to be as neutral as possible in my gaze towards community. It is my prayer to be a safe space that empowers and celebrates another’s sovereignty, that sees the Holy Spirit in another’s gaze, wildly different or radically similar, receiving fellow Spirit-seekers with honor, reverence, curiosity, and communion.

It is, also, this very prayer that betrays a false construct of what it means to be neutral.

There are streams of narratives that continue to decide the specific ways to look at a situation. There are streams of narratives that border us into camps, pitted against each other, divided, angry, gluttonous, vain.

In alignment with the Mabon season, I invite you to explore and reflect on the fruits of your work, your prayers, your labors. Is it the grace and peace that passes all understanding? Or is it division, strife, and war?

What stream of consciousness are you tapping into?

If not divine consciousness, that which always seeks the highest good for all, where miracles are instantaneous, where fruits exist in perfect abundant alignment, how are we, choosing an alternative consciousness, giving away our power, our sovereignty, authentic thought, love, heart, character, and the gift of human life and free will?

In these times of confusion and conflict, it’s essential to turn inward, meeting Spirit, heart, and discernment, to uncover our personal truths. This inner journey helps us rise above the divisive narratives and conspiracy theories that serve only to entangle us in webs of ignorance and fear. Instead of succumbing to these distractions, we are called to cultivate original thought and a deeper connection with our authentic selves. By doing so, we align with a consciousness that seeks the highest good for all, where truth and understanding flourish.

What are the fruits of your harvest? With each moment of curiosity, love, and courage, “awareness and spaciousness,” envelopes us gently towards the radiance of Self and Spirit.

Sitting at a restaurant in Barcelona, heralded by a female chef, surrounded by locals, couples of all varieties and preferences, puppies, servers with neck tattoos - and I’m wondering, how do we preserve the liberties and freedoms of love, little girls’ dreams, agency, and and culture that makes this moment in time so magical?
