If you’ve been following me, then you may have been wondering why I’ve been MIA. Well, I found out I had to stop exercising in January because my cervix began shortening. It was extremely scary and I did everything I could to keep our little babies inside me for as long as I could but they were ready to come into this world.

So here we are…106 days later. I
can’t believe the day is finally here that I can announce the birth of our two beautiful babies!!

On the evening of Feb 13th, 2022 at 9:26 and 9:27pm, Super Bowl Sunday, our lives changed forever. At 26 weeks and 5 days, our babies Avery Georgia (1 lb 15 oz) and Brooke Olivia (1lb 13oz) came into the world. They were brought to the NICU at NYU’s Hassenfeld Childrens Hospital, where they would spend over 100 days growing and competing with each other to be the first to pick their beds at home. We could not be more fortunate with how our story progressed. These girls are fighters and straight up miracles.

They made so many nurse friends at the hospital that they will always love and remember. Thank you for everything. We couldn’t have done any of this without you! Both girls grew so much during their stay and left weighing over 6.5lb each!

Avery came home with mommy and daddy on Tuesday, May 24th and her sister came home 6 days later on Memorial Day, May 30th…. The start of a very exciting summer

It’s been a journey like no other. It’s been a whirlwind. But we made it. We are complete. We are so in love with these two identical little humans. Our family is finally home together and the crazy adventure as a party of 4 begins and my two little pilates queens will join me in some fun post Partum workouts!

Thanks for making me a mommy🥺😍

Raise your hand 🙋‍♀️ if this bothers you as much as it bothers me...I can’t tell you how much this makes my skin crawl! Being sore isn’t always a good thing. When it hurts to lift your arms or sit on a toilet, does that seem healthy? I dunno about you, but exercise should be invigorating and make you feel strong but capable of doing more. It shouldn’t make you feel like you need a week to recover. You should feel stronger but more flexible! Not less! So many people think working out is about more weight, more speed, more this, more that. But what about doing your workout with intention and control? what about stretching as much as you strengthen? did you ever think that when you strengthen your muscles, they get shorter and tighter. They need to lengthen too. HELLO PILATES! it does both at once. No wonder you don’t leave feeling crippled. You got stronger and more flexible in one hour and didn’t even realize it. your muscles 💪🏻 get tighter to the bone. your energy is increased. your actually able to do pilates daily cus it’s not meant to KILL you. It’s meant to be functional. It’s meant to make you better in all aspects. In all workouts. It’s meant to make you more efficient and more connected to your center. Soreness does not equate to better. I want to feel like I’ve done something but that I can still do more. That’s how exercise should be! .

I love that Pilates teaches you how to engage your core in every movement. This exercise might look like it’s working my legs (which it is) but the real work is coming from my core. Every time I bend my knee in towards my body, I’m actually working on pulling my abs in towards my spine. Also, this move should NOT be coming from the knee but should be initiated from the glutes. I like this exercise because it takes pressure off the low back but still gets deep into the core. I would say this is a good way to learn the ab series. Try it out and let me know what you think! 🙌🏼🙆🏻‍♀️👏

Sometimes it’s hard to remember what each vitamin does for our bodies, but they’re all important and vital for maintaining optimal health. I found this amazing poem that makes it so easy to remember their purpose! I’m kind of obsessed with it. Now go take your vitamins and feed your body with the nutrients it needs!! 🌞💊👩‍⚕️🍏🥦🥒🥑🍒

My Story

If you don’t know the story of how Pilates changed my life..here it is:

Believe it or not, I was a very lazy kid. I was chubby, clumsy, and far from athletic. In fact, I hated all forms of exercise. Being active was definitely not my cup of tea.

When I was 14 years old, my mom had me try a private Pilates lesson on the apparatus at the gym we belonged to. I tried it and actually enjoyed it. I didn’t really sweat (a plus for me) and I liked the way it made me feel. It was fun and weird all at the same time which peaked my interested. But most of all, I loved that half the class involved laying down on a strange half bed type thing (aka the reformer).

I told my mom if this is considered exercise then count me in. I like it. And nearly 17 years later, I can confirm that practicing Pilates has changed my life in so many ways.
