Sometimes the hardest part of lowering your A1C is not the food… it’s feeling like life suddenly got less joyful.

You start reading labels.
Thinking about carbs.
Planning meals.
Watching your numbers.

And before you know it, the whole journey can start to feel like restriction instead of healing.

If it starts to feel like “I can’t enjoy anything anymore,” that’s your sign to add joy back in on purpose.

Because sustainable change is not just about what’s on your plate.
It’s also about building a life you actually enjoy living.

Try creating moments of connection that are not centered around food:

• plan a group walk, hike, or bike ride with friends
• have a living room dance party with your family
• meet a friend for a walk and coffee instead of brunch
• take a fun movement class like salsa, yoga, or Pilates
• plan a park day, picnic walk, or outdoor stroll

Movement can become celebration.
Connection can become medicine.
Joy is part of the healing process too.

The goal is not to resent the journey.
The goal is to create habits that support your blood sugar and your life.

Lowering your A1C should help you feel more alive, not less.

You got prediabetes and you are up at 3 AM

Why? Asking ChatGPT and Googling everything.

What should I eat?
Do I need to give up carbs?
Can I still eat rice?
Is this reversible?

First, take a deep breath.

A prediabetes diagnosis does not mean your life has to become all salads and restrictions.

The goal is not perfection.
It is learning how to build a plate that helps support steady blood sugar.

Start with this simple formula:
✔️ protein
✔️ fiber rich carbs
✔️ healthy fats
✔️ non starchy veggies

Simple shifts like this can help support your energy, reduce cravings, and help lower your A1C over time.

Let that sink in for a sec.

That means millions of people are walking around feeling “off”…

low energy
afternoon crashes
brain fog
feeling shaky or irritable if they haven’t eaten
constant cravings for sweets or carbs
waking up tired even after a full night’s sleep
feeling hungry again soon after meals

…without realizing blood sugar imbalance could be playing a role.

Here’s the thing:

Prediabetes often doesn’t come with loud symptoms.

Sometimes it looks like:
“Why am I always exhausted?”
“Why am I craving sugar every afternoon?”

This is exactly why it’s so important to test your fasting glucose and A1C.

But prediabetes is not just about sugar.
It is about insulin resistance, blood sugar swings, stress, sleep, and daily habits that slowly push the body out of balance.

After years of working with clients trying to lower their A1C and prevent type 2 diabetes, I have seen that quick fixes rarely lead to lasting results.

What actually helps is learning how to stabilize blood sugar, protect muscle, build balanced meals, and create simple routines that support metabolic health.

Prediabetes is not a life sentence.

They wanted change badly, but balanced habits felt too slow compared to the false promise of a quick fix.

I see this all the time. People want better blood sugar, more energy, fewer cravings, and less brain fog, so naturally the quick fix sounds more appealing.

But extreme approaches usually lead right back to the cycle of starting over.

That is why I focus on balanced habits instead. They may feel slower, but they are often what create the kind of progress you can actually sustain.
