The wintery mix couldn’t stop us from walking in today’s Bensonhurst, Brooklyn Lunar New Year parade along 18th Avenue! Despite the cold, the spirits were warm as we marched, handed out lucky red envelopes and connected with the community, elected officials and parade organizers!

To everyone who cheered us on as we walked alongside the Elderplan van, thank you for making the celebration so special 🐎🧧

It’s always fun to march in Flushing’s Lunar New Year parade. Big crowds, great energy, lots of Elderplan/HomeFirst fans.

In addition to handing out dozens of lucky red envelopes and talking about our not-for-profit organization, we also wished everyone a happy, prosperous and healthy new year.

Happy Lunar New Year and Tết! Today marks the start of vibrant celebrations around the world as communities welcome the Year of the Horse, the animal zodiac sign known for high energy, speed and independence.

Lunar New Year is celebrated across many cultures, including Chinese, Korean, Mongolian, Tibetan and other East and Southeast Asian communities, each with their own rich traditions and customs. It is also Tết, Vietnamese Lunar New Year, which is celebrated with prayers and meals with loved ones.

Meet Fung, a senior member services representative at Elderplan/HomeFirst. Her dedication to preparation, accuracy and privacy helps ensure that each member’s interaction with her is handled with care, clarity and respect.

“Representatives like myself have a real impact on the member experience,” she says. “I make it a priority to understand plan information as well as regularly review materials and guidelines. In my profession, it’s also extremely important to listen, be patient and address issues efficiently. If I can’t resolve something, I know exactly where to route the inquiry. That’s really important, too.”
