Time for 👩‍🏫

This is a what a smoker’s mouth looks like.

Smoking can impact your oral health. People who smoke are at higher risk of developing oral cancer, gum problems, losing teeth, decay on roots of teeth, losing bone, and complications after tooth removal and gum and oral surgery.

Look at the second picture on this post.
Notice the red lines?
That’s where the bone should be and it’s a lot lower.

Let’s be honest,

Do you suffer from…
✅Persistent bad breath
✅Pain when you chew
✅Tender,red, or swollen gums
✅bleeding gums
✅sensitive teeth
✅loose teeth
✅receding gums(your teeth appear longer)
⁉️

You may be wondering, "If I stop smoking, will my gums repair themselves?" Not necessarily, but don't wait to see your dental professional until after you experience these symptoms. By catching gum disease early, you will be in the best position to treat the condition.

If your dentist diagnoses you with gum disease early, scaling and root planing can reverse its effects. Your dental professional will remove plaque from your teeth and under your gums using manual tools and ultrasonic instruments. Your dental professional can smooth out the roots of your teeth to help ensure your gums reattach after the procedure. Scaling and root planing can require one or more visits.

Don’t wait!

Let’s treat these concerns.

“What are the spikes stuck in my teeth on those X-rays?”

A patient asked today after seen his full set of radiographic images.

Gum Disease results in slow bone loss over time. The cause is usually long-term accumulation of plaque, tartar and bacteria around and under the gums. If you don't floss much, brush your teeth regularly, or seek regular dental cleanings you will be at a higher risk of developing Periodontitis.

Don’t wait to get your periodic teeth cleaning and exam. You should see a and every 6 months!

Did you know 68% of adults have tartar?

Tartar, also called dental calculus, is a yellow or brown colored deposit that forms when plaque hardens on your teeth. Because tartar buildup on teeth is strongly bonded to the tooth enamel, it can only be removed by a dental professional.
