In the August 2020 edition of Pain Medicine News, Study Shows Patients’ Cannabis Use for Musculoskeletal Pain.

This Toronto based study is interesting, enrolling 1000 patients. The mechanisms by which cannabis is working is outlined below. One of the limitations to the study is dosing variabilities of product. Therefore, it's recommended to get cannabis products from a NYS dispensary. For more information, please contact our office 212-245-7900.

“Various cannabinoid receptors are found in OA cartilage and synovium, including cannabinoid receptor 1 and 2 , and endocannabinoids are increased in OA synovial fluid compared to normal controls,” Dr. Leroux said. “Activation of cannabinoid receptors CB1 and CB2 reduces pain and inflammation, and modifies cellular activities in various models of inflammatory arthritis. In models of OA, endocannabinoid pathway modulators, pure cannabinoids and synthetics also reduce pain and modulate inflammation.”

We truly appreciate the feedback we receive from our patients!

"Doctor Allen is a modern day magician, that in my case has been keeping me, an elderly patient, still functioning well despite 90+ years of my personal neglect. That is the short version. The medium version is that despite my surgically removed knee inner parts, a spine that has practically given up it's appointed task, and various and sundry other sources of pain and discomfort, Dr.Allen and his magic sharply pointed wand is keeping me functioning. He, with some much appreciated assistance from Caroline, is not letting me just sag and give up. And for that I am so very grateful."

If you’re experiencing neck pain at the same time you have a headache, there’s a good chance your symptoms are coming from your upper or cervical spine. These headaches, called “cervicogenic,” account for 15-20% of all headaches, and often respond very well to physical therapy. Our therapist treats this condition by using proven joint mobilizations (combining elements of the Maitland Approach and Mulligan Concept) to restore the normal muscle-bone relationships. Typically, this reduces some of the pressure and pain instantly. These mobilizations are reinforced with therapeutic massage, stretches and postural stabilization exercises – to help keep you from getting headaches.
