Ear infections are common in children, especially when they are congested. Ear discomfort is not always an infection though, and many ear infections in older children are viral and resolve on their own.
The only way to know if your child has an infection or needs antibiotics is to be seen for an in-person exam.

A recent outbreak of Infant Botulism has affected 13 infants across 10 states: Arizona, California, Illinois, Minnesota, New Jersey, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Texas, and Washington.
The outbreak has been linked to
ByHeart Whole Nutrition Infant Formula, specifically lot numbers
206VABP/251261P2 and
206VABP/251131P2.
(Both with use by dates of Dec 1 2026)

If you have these lot numbers dispose of remaining formula and monitor your infant.

Infants with botulism will typically develop constipation, poor feeding, loss of head control, and difficulty swallowing initially. This can progress to difficulty breathing and respiratory arrest. Symptoms of infant botulism, which are diagnosed clinically, can take as long as 30 days to develop following exposure.
