The story of Girl+Hair (GirlandHair) starts in 2009 when Founder, Dr. Camille Verovic, former marketing professional turned doctor, sought out to find healthy products to care for her natural hair after her “big chop”. Because of her busy life style, protective styling has always been a great solution. Depending on the season or work schedule ahead, she would choose a preferred protective style, s

uch as hair extensions, crochet braids, wigs, braids, or weaves. However, Camille soon realized there was simply no natural hair care product specifically created to maintain and grow her natural hair while it was put away in a braided protective style. The different natural hair care products on the market simply did not meet the challenge of utility and convenience. For years, Camille has worn protective styles but she always found it difficult to properly cleanse and moisturize her natural hair while wearing hair extensions, resulting in dry and brittle hair and experiencing extensive breakage. Furthermore, with her decision in 2010 to transition from a marketing professional to become a medical doctor, Camille understood that maintaining her natural hair should be easy and more convenient. In fact, “wash day” should never take all day. Based on her personal frustration and armed with her medical knowledge and desire to find the best ingredients for optimal hair health, the idea of a product line to maintain natural hair underneath hair extensions was born.
