Meet Claire! At 62, she looked in the mirror and felt like a stranger was looking back.

When I first met Claire, she struck me as someone very private and in fact she wasn’t even planning on telling her friends she was having a facelift! But after watching others bravely tell their stories, she decided to share hers.

One week ago Claire underwent:

Like many of the patients I see on a daily basis, her motivation wasn’t necessarily to chase youth - though of course she wanted to look like her younger self! It was about feeling like herself again and reclaiming a part of herself she felt she’d lost.

This week we checked in with Denise who is now 3 weeks post op and healing beautifully. She’s back in the swing of things and starting to feel like herself again! Denise has been incredibly open and honest about her recovery and even though she’s not fully healed she’s starting to see herself again.

Denise underwent a comprehensive facial rejuvenation which included:

Upper & lower eyelid blepharoplasty

One of the most satisfying parts of teaching is watching the “aha” moment happen in real time.

While in the lab this weekend, one of the participants raised a question about the practical difference between SMAS surgery and a deep plane facelift—does a deep plane lift actually allow the tissue to move more? So we tested it! He performed a plication on one side, and I performed a deep plane on the other.

The difference in soft tissue mobility and the degree to which we could “lift” the face spoke for itself.

There’s no substitute for seeing (and feeling) these anatomical differences firsthand.

8 days ago, Denise underwent:

Throughout this process, Denise has been incredibly open and honest about the ups and downs. I’m so grateful that she chose to share her recovery and am thrilled with her progress over the last week. She looks amazing already, even with the swelling and bruising.

Day 4️⃣ with Denise!

Denise, who is 61, researched and interviewed surgeons for 2 years before she decided to have her surgery with us. She knows and has seen a lot about the healing process. She is now well into her first post-operative week, after undergoing:

- Upper & lower eyelid blepharoplasty
- Endoscopic brow lift
- Lip lift
- CO2 laser of face, neck and chest

As expected, her swelling has increased since our last visit. But today she’s feeling good! She has an incredibly supportive husband and also utilized the recovery care of our incredible nursing partners to help her get off to the best possible start to her healing. I’m so grateful for Denise’s honesty and candor as she shares a little about the ups and downs during the first few days after surgery.

Today Kelly said something so profound that really resonated with me. That this surgery gave her back her true self. Throughout this whole recovery process Kelly has been honest and forthcoming about her anxieties about undergoing surgery and how she’s good with some of the challenges post op. I am amazed at how quickly she turned the corner and we can already begin to see some of the beautiful shape taking form. Today we discuss the nuances of a conservative lip lift and some of her tricks for recovery! I think Kelly looks like a refreshed and even more beautiful version of herself. What do you think??

Kelly is a vibrant, active 62 year old who thought about having a facelift for years before actually going through with it. We first consulted about 3 years ago!

4 days ago, she underwent:

Kelly’s post op recovery is a great example of how quickly swelling can come (and Today she has increased swelling around the eyes and mouth, which is typical for where she is in the healing process. go!). Most importantly she is feeling great! I’m grateful that she has chosen to share her progress with all of you and can’t even wait to see how she looks over the next several days.
