Amazing way to start the day! was published 10 years ago and today I received this email from a woman who wanted to let me know I made a difference in her life. How do you sleep during a pandemic?

We all know that sleep is essential for physical and mental health, but how do you get good sleep during a pandemic?

A few simple practices can make a big difference:


  • Keep a consistent wake up time. This helps to set your body clock so you’ll be sleepy at bedtime. Varying your wakeup time can lead to nighttime insomnia.

  • Limit news and social media in the evening. Set a shut-off time and stick to it. News is very activating and can lead to agitation that will keep you awake at night. In stressful times, we need a longer off-ramp from busy-ness of the day.
