20 Black Psychology Pioneers You Should Know
In our recent training with Dr. Gaztambide, the term ‘intellectual orphan’ stirred stories of Black clinicians being without representative predecessors when it comes to the field of mental health--in other words, clinicians have been left with the lack of predecessors informing their experiences and education as a therapist in this field. Through the violent erasure of their presence or work, or the deliberate isolation from field, there have been many names left out of the books, research and classrooms. Here we would like to name some incredible pioneers via Active Minds and Mental Health America (links below), encouraging you to look into their research and work, integrating it into your own.
